what other kind of formats that might work in austin radio - classic rock(60's-80's and some 90's), classic country, oldies, jazz , nostalgia , and others?
I say rythmic like as in dance music other than Hip hop or Top 40 but that is just a dream for me. I doubt we will see anything like that anytime soon.

We will see the first humans land on Mars before we see KHFI doing something really different. : I wish they would have had one of their HD channels carry that dance station like 96.1 in SA. I would be happy with something like that even if its not on the regular dial. I don't have any HD radios because honestly there is nothing good in HD in Austin that would be interested in. For now I stick with Sirius...
How about an Urban AC on FM. It may work and it will draw some grown folks that listen to KDHT and KXBT to an Urban AC station. I know up in Killeen before 2000 there was only one station to listen to in town (KIIZ) and that served everybody. Beat 104.3 came around in '98 and drew some away but not much due to the signal. Then came a radio station in 2000 that catered to the 25-54 audience called 103.1 kiss fm and that took around 90% of that audience (25-54) over to them. I think if Austin could support an Urban AC again, it would at least diverisfy the radio dial. Besides, 103.1 usually play commercials that would tell people about events going down here in Austin like the Urban Music Festival and that jazz/R&B club that is somewhere on I-35 in North Austin.
