I know everyone is tired of hearing about Pirate Radio, but I think I should post it anyways. I've been listening to pirate radio 96.1 The Zone and it surprised me that they were running ads. It is the first pirate radio station that I've heard that runs ads. Whoever is running this station must be really organized since he/she has also made some liners (even though they are sort of crappy) and has added live broadcasting from certain places. For example, I heard yesterday an ad that they will be transmitting live from lincoln park or something like that. I was unable to understand it since the station kept fightin with Aggie 96. I know this station has been discussed before but why is it still on the air, doesn't the fcc care they are actually running ads.(and no, I don't have a problem with pirate radio stations for those people who are really jumpy about pirate radio issues)

I thought that was a legit LPFM near Cy-Fair or Tomball, right? They should not be selling ads. At least not 'call to action' ads. That is an LPFM no-no.

The only legal LPFM in the Houston area is 105.3 in Cleveland...there are no others. The station in question is a pirate.

Juan, some of us aren't tired of the subject of pirate radio. We tired of the blatant illegal operation of said same. I heard 96.1 last fall after leaving a remote for The Wave. It has a strong signal. However, if it isn't reported to the FCC, then nothing will get done. Having stating that, I have to add that nothing may get done anyway. As for 95.3, observe the following:Licensee: ALELUYA CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING, INC. Service Designation: FX Translator Station (retransmits signal, different channel than main station) Channel/Class: 237D Frequency: 95.3 MHz Application File No.: BNPFT-20030312BGX Facility ID number: 142815 CDBS Application ID No.: 634812 29° 35' 35.17" N Latitude 95° 03' 12.25" W Longitude (NAD 27) Polarization: Horizontal Vertical Effective Radiated Power (ERP): 0.115 0.115 kW ERP Antenna Height Above Average Terrain: 0. 0. meters HAAT Antenna Height Above Mean Sea Level: 148. 148. meters AMSL Antenna Height Above Ground Level: 145. 145. meters AGL Non-Directional Antenna ID No.: 48380 Pattern Rotation: 0.00 This will certainly be a problem for the 95.3 pirate. CBS Houston is well aware of the situation and are acting on it. Of course, the wheels of justice turns slow, yet efficient.

Re: Other Pirate 96.1

I noticed there is a 96.1 Pirate broadcasting in "mono" , playing hiphop/rap music and they have LIVE djs and they are giving out a request # beginning with 281 . They mention being in Home Acres or Garden Acres, cant remember which acres it is. But they are located just north of Oak Forest, just north of 610 North Loop, north of 43rd St.
