Other stuff

Haven't posted much lately,

KZIZ 1560 Sumner, now operating directional at night, decent signal, cardiode pattern toward the north, protecting Bakersfield, KNZR, co-channel. They've been on the air at night for a couple months now. Any signal reports?

KKDZ 1250, now running HD, any reports?

KKOL, still using night pattern during the day to prevent an explosion at the port, any word on when and if this will be resolved?

KGA, downgrading to 15KW at night, anyone notice a difference yet?

According to another message board, KOMO 1000, is now running c-quam stereo, has this been confirmed? I have been told thru the grapevine, Fisher doesn't really plan to give Ibiquity a try on 101.5, nor 1000, could be rumours, but it may explain the switching on of the "Old" c-quam exciter at 1000 KC.

I have a bad feeling KKOL is going to be planning for a new transmitter site AGAIN soon. That problem is completely unavoidable with the proximity issue and even the engineers here in Seattle (Hatfield/Dawson) have sided against KKOL from what I read in Radio World some months ago.

KZIZ? My question is why weren't they and KRIZ, KAAR, KKDZ and the rest off the air years ago considering the almost non existent audience they have together or seperate?

KGA? With all the AMs running HD at night in the next few years (if you believe HD can hack it) KGA or KFBK or KGO at night will be a forgotten thing of the past.

Fisher is very smart not run HD right now--no audience for the $. I overheard Dennis Kelly doubting the appeal of digital radio in a passing hallway conversation back in 2004 or so, probably little change in that opinion since.

KKOL 1300 cannot be heard north of South Everett. I hear an Oregon religious station better than KKOL...in the DAYTIME hours....

What the hell is this 50,000 watts doing for 1300 anyway?.....

I'm waiting for KKOL 1300Khz to move out here to Vashon. Where would they move too? Are there any AM transmitter sites with three 50KW stations blasting(transmitting) off the same sticks?

Yes!

KJR uses the KGNW site and KTTH uses the KPTK site (conservatives and liberals on shared towers - sounds kind of like a conspiracy!)

KKOL seriously ought to drop the 50,000 watt idea. It's never going to work. If they want 50,000 watts for KKOL, move it to 820.
