o'town radio makes no sense

Saturday night at 8:30pm, WHTQ is playing Van Halen's "Dancing in the Streets" and MIX 105.1 is play VH's "Panama" ... seems like those two should've been swapped to meet the station demographics. Switch over to XL and the sat-feed Romeo show, and I hear the break in "OK Orlando, let's kick off the weekend right ... " (at 8:30 on Saturday, really is "kick off" timely?) ... immediately followed by "now lets go to the phones in Birmingham, Alabama" --- I'm sure that keeps the locals listening. Is weekend radio now just a disposable, no effort/no meaning thing? In the old days, at least they let young guys (or gals) cut their teeth and try make it interesting.

When I got my start in radio in the '70s, Friday and Saturday nights were the most coveted air-time slot for youngs guys like I was at the time. We had the most listeners at night, and weekend evening radio was local, live and HOT!!!
