Our George Kimball has bought a station in Arizona

What do you mean "Our" George Kimball? He might be yours, but he sure as hell isn't mine.
He's another one of these owners that have purchased numerous small market stations and turned them into automated juke boxes, or syndicated talk-a-thons. Where once there was a place for young broadcasters to develop their skills, now there are just groups of radio stations featuring studios with board operators. Thanks George, thanks a lot.

In all fairness, he's not running his stations any differently than most other small market operators. And doesn't he have a few on-air people on his Finger Lakes News Network that he runs on his AM stations? As far as young broadcasters developing -- the way the business is nowadays, IMHO young people should avoid radio like it's the plague...no jobs, no security, no money(unless you're something special like <sarcasm> Opie & Anthony).

Speaking of George, he's also a radio broker, according to this blurb off www.radio4sale.com...if anybody's got some spare change, the CP for WMJQ Ontario can be yours:

>>>Rochester NY
Brand new AM station Construction Permit (CP) that reaches over 775,000 people in the Rochester NY market. BIA- Investing in Radio Market Report has Rochester as market # 54 with $50 million in radio advertising revenues. There is NO full-time ESPN affiliate in Rochester. This station would also be perfect for religious or ethnic programming. The asking price for the CP is just $250,000. $100,000 down with the balance to be paid over 5 years. The station will need only 3 towers under 200 ft. in height so no lighting will be needed.
