No, you're exactly right. The only tolerable radio station for new indie music and some alt-rock is Wave 104.9. It's really good music and if Triad ever kills it, I'll be pissed.
I truly believe that a well-programmed 96 Wave clone, with great personalities and promotions, could garner huge ratings, ad sales, and listener response. Witness Z102 back in the mid '90s. They were *the* alternative station around here and it truly had the feeling that you NEVER wanted to turn the radio off because you were afraid you might miss something. They were always *LIVE* (Tripp West did an amazing evening show) and had great locally produced weeknight and weekend shows as well. If I had some $$$, I'd buy WZAT from Cumulus and bring alt-rock done the proper way back to Savannah on the one frequency where it truly shined. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by FilmCritic3000 on 04/11/06 12:42 AM.</FONT></P>
