He claims my license is expired as of 2/16/19..nope.. I filed resumption of operations in Nov of 2018..nice try...and I'm sure KXYZ will stop it since it's in their protected contour..it's not in my contour so I don't give a crap...but his lie about my license being gone is something else..time to file a rebuttal..he's pissed me off for the last time

Does anyone take this stuff seriously?

Houston has 113 AM, FM and translator stations licensed within the Metro Survey Area.

Anyone who thinks that a 250 watt station on 1300 would be even noticed is a dreaming.

It would have better range than Kiss did with only 99w

LMFAO, AM now? 1930?
I'd get an HD-only FM transmitter before an AM transmitter.

Someone told me Joe's already operating his station on 1300

I doubt it. The FCC won't permit another station on the same frequency as a station which is currently licensed, even if the station is temporarily off the air due to technical issues.

Hardly. With no ground radials at Joe's tower, and no potential to install them, the signal would mostly go up, not out.

But hey, all the undocumented immigrants flying overhead in hot air balloons might be able to hear these important announcements between English language classic hits records.

KLLS notified the FCC about the transmitter failure in email ..and will file silent STA if it goes beyond 30 days ..Joe is now a recognized pirate according to the FCCs own web site..so he can't get a broadcast license period..he shot himself in the foot with his actions:

"Even if" Joe (or someone else in his church) could get a license, it's not clear about the interest in AM 1300 that has a temporarily-silent licensed occupant in Beaumont -- there are several better open frequencies here. Zero Texas stations on AM 830, nearest is in New Orleans. FCC has a seemingly open allocation in Corpus Christi at 2.5 KW -- See https://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?list=0&facid=98884
AM 1160 is open here (KRDY San Antonio & KBDT Dallas), AM 1210 and AM 1270 (KFLC Dallas) are open here, as are several frequencies in the 1600-1700 range. Why bother with AM 1300?
And if 2Speakers is correct about a long-wire antenna having lousy horizontal propagation, Joe could go for higher power on these other frequencies.
I hope ContinuousWave can get that Wave emanating soon from KLLS.

The FCC will not license a horizontal long wire antenna for AM broadcast use.
There is an FCC required minimum radiation efficiency for medium wave transmitting antennas. A long wire without a proper ground system wouldn't even come close to meeting the minimum radiation standards.

The FCC won't approve it.

We get it, perhaps you missed my point of showing how nutty JoeFM (JoeAM now?) can be. Along with proposing a new Houston signal for AM 1300, which already has a licensed occupant in Beaumont, he's proposing that a long-wire antenna would ever be approved by the FCC, let alone be a good idea in the first place --- while ignoring the other frequencies available for higher power with a real antenna.
>> Once again, best wishes to ContinuousWave on re-invigorating KLLS -- FYI, the last sentence on (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KLLS) states that the station is back on the air as of last November.

KLLS's GatesAir DAX3 xmtr suffered an eeprom failure recently...found the LCD screen dark and all the LEDs on..talking with factory revealed a software fix was offered for free in 2011 but the previous operators didn't get it...the EEPROM dies after 7 years of operation...and it happened ..KOLE 1340 Port Arthur is facing same issue with it's DAX 1...part is on order for both...since I work with Torey who is operating KOLE right now. But was warned by factory, it may need a software reload via a special jack that only the factory can do...ugh..working on a backup xntr in the meantime...Joe is just trying to get back at me for what he thinks is my involvement in his getting a cease operations notice from the FCC..he made his own bed and the FCC did it on their own..I DID help bust a pirate on 95.9 in Port Arthur that was causing interference to me being able to hear 95.7 The Spot over here..but that's it..Joe just needs to seek help and get his life right...I have more important things to do than deal with his sh**...he dug his own hole and now has to face the music...so to speak..thanks to all who wished KLLS success .it's been an uphill battle but there's light at the end of the tunnel..and it's not another train headed my way LOL
