Look at the new line up of tracks

Teddy Geiger - For You I Will
Bo Bice - Real Thing
Jason Mraz - Geek In The Pink
All American Rejects - Move Along
Dem Franchize Boyz - Lean Wit It Rock Wit It
Matisyahu - King Without A Crown
Ashley Parker Angel - Let U Go
Nick Lachey - What's Left of Me
Switchfoot - We Are One Tonight
Aly & AJ - In The Rush
Hoobastank - If I Were You
Daddy Yankee - Rompe
Ne-Yo - When You're Mad
Paul Wall - Girl

Take note that very few of these are Rhythmic. As for the Paul Wall song, I find it to be one of the best Rhythmic tracks since Gold Digger.

I heard Teddy Geiger on WKSC this morning. I like it.

Jason Mraz - Geek In The Pink is pretty good. But nobody will touch it.

Don't like Move Along at all.

King Without A Crown is a GREAT song. But the Live @ Stubbs version is TONS better then the album version.

Havem't heard Nick's song.

Heard WKSC playing Ashley Parker Angel. Guess its an OK song.

The Swichfoot song isn't as good as it could be. But its OK.

the Hoobastank song is whiny. Typical Hoobastank after Out Of Control.

I'd say we're far from out of the rhythmic phase. Ne-Yo will be the only instant add at my CHR. The rest of those songs will not even get one spin. I'm guessing you have a small town CHR?
______________

> Teddy Geiger - For You I Will

Hit.

> Bo Bice - Real Thing

Disgusting.

> Jason Mraz - Geek In The Pink

Hit.

> All American Rejects - Move Along

Stiff.

> Dem Franchize Boyz - Lean Wit It Rock Wit It

Unfortunately, it will probably be a hit.

> Matisyahu - King Without A Crown

Stiff. Not enough stations will pick it up and give it enough spins for it to get any higher than 20, if it's that lucky.

> Ashley Parker Angel - Let U Go

Stiff.

> Nick Lachey - What's Left of Me

Stiff.

> Switchfoot - We Are One Tonight

Stiff.

> Aly & AJ - In The Rush

Decent song, but not sure if it's a hit.

> Hoobastank - If I Were You

It's Hoobastank... it'll probably be a hit.

> Daddy Yankee - Rompe

HATE. THIS. SONG. WITH. A. PASSION.

> Ne-Yo - When You're Mad

Hit, but not ready yet. So Sick still has a ton of legs.

> Paul Wall - Girl

Not bad, but not sure if it's a CHR hit.

Teddy Geiger - For You I Will
Hit.

**Not so sure, really. These kind of acts usually BECOME hits because there's a hook or an angle to the marketing (THINK: Ryan Cabrera dating Ashlee Simpson while cameras rolled). Ryan's VERY talented, and this Geiger kid may be as well, but what's the marketing angle that MAKES this song a hit?

Bo Bice - Real Thing
Disgusting.

** What's "disgusting" about this song? Is it a hit? I'm gonna say probably not, only because it's too passive for most "chart-reading" programmers to venture on a try with it. Kids like nasty @ss sex-laced rap songs, so THEY won't request it. So who will? Gotta either try it and see or get some research on it.

Jason Mraz - Geek In The Pink
Hit.

** Love Jason Mraz music, but if 'Curbside Prophet' didn't happen, I don't see how this one does. I'm hoping it does, though.

All American Rejects - Move Along
Stiff.

** I disagree. I think this song is coming along at the right time. Weather's warming up and people wanna "crank" song on their radio so they can jam w/the windows or top down. This is the first one of the season.

Dem Franchize Boyz - Lean Wit It Rock Wit It
Unfortunately, it will probably be a hit.

** I unfortunately agree. I got 11-year old white suburban girl-thugs already calling for it.... because they can SO relate to the artists and message.

Matisyahu - King Without A Crown
Stiff. Not enough stations will pick it up and give it enough spins for it to get any higher than 20, if it's that lucky.

** Getting LOTS of press. That might help that problem w/stations giving it a chance or boosting its spins. I'm non-commital on the track, myself.

Ashley Parker Angel - Let U Go
Stiff.

** Doing well here...starting to get good target demo reactions.

Nick Lachey - What's Left of Me
Stiff.

** Agree.

Switchfoot - We Are One Tonight
Stiff.

** Agree.

Aly & AJ - In The Rush
Decent song, but not sure if it's a hit.

** Not sure, myself. Tested well here.

Hoobastank - If I Were You
It's Hoobastank... it'll probably be a hit.

** It should be a smash.

Daddy Yankee - Rompe
HATE. THIS. SONG. WITH. A. PASSION.

** Agree, wholeheartedly.

Ne-Yo - When You're Mad
Hit, but not ready yet. So Sick still has a ton of legs.

** Can the labels let his first hit achieve all it can, first?

Paul Wall - Girl
Not bad, but not sure if it's a CHR hit.

** "Grillz" is less of a likely CHR hit than this, and it's done good (aain, the 14 year old suburbanites "relate" to it).

If its in the Top-40, its a hit. It's in the Top-40 and climbing.

R&R Chart:

LW36 TW32

Teddy Geiger:

LW32 TW30

and huge jump for Jason Mraz

LW42 TW34

Usually a song isn't really considered a bonafide hit until hits the Top 10 nationally.

For example, s song might be number 34 with little to no airplay in the Top 50 markets.

James Blunt, Daniel Powter

CHR/Pop may be coming out of its xenophobic phase as well... two songs that were huge hits in Europe are now doing well on CHR: James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" (currently #1 on AC and Hot AC) has cracked the Top 10, while Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" is gaining lots of spins and is now in the Top 40 at #37.

It's also worth mentioning that Bon Jovi's latest song is heading towards the Top 10... on Country stations!

It's a common mistake to not use punctuation in its proper form.
Be kind to your friend, the apostrophe.

If we listed all the songs that charted 40-31 over the past coupla years, we could compile a list of stiffs.

What a "hit" is can't be defined in sheer numbers, rankings, etc.

That's why terrestrial radio used to be (and in some small pockets still is) so great. A hit in one market might not've been as popular in another.

Cascada and KT Tunstall aren't doing too bad either.

Marc Broussard - Home tests very well on WIFC and WIXX (Wausau, WI and Green Bay) its like a mix of blues, country, AAA and southern rock. WIXX has also been all over the KT Tunstall song.
______________
