That's quite a different direction musically than Boston's Greater Media-owned WMJX, which is listed as playing a whole bunch of "Smooth Jazz"-type tunes, such as Dave Koz, Anita Baker, Kenny G, Marc Antione, etc.... that's probably from their weekday evening DJ David Allan Boucher, who likes to play a Smooth Jazz tune every now and then among the standard AC fare.

I heard that WLIT is becoming more "bright" adding in tunes such as Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and like you said, "Hey Ya". I'm sure the mix is interesting. WLTW in New York has become more upbeat, but not that upbeat! I don't think Outkast will be all over on AC.<P ID="signature">______________

Personally, I don't like listening to the WMJX stream from Boston because of its loud jingles. They also play some CHR-friendly tunes. The station doesn't help me relax.

Speaking of jingles, I believe they came from Thompson Creative.

Living in NEPA, there is a soft AC station that my family listens to in the car. Even though they sometimes play upbeat music, it is nothing compared to Chicago's WLIT. Also, a new soft AC station in Chicago is basically soft. It is called "Love FM" and they played love songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's, and some today. Both stations relaxes me through the day, but I listen to Love FM via streaming audio.

This is the same station that plays Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl". But I'm stunned that they would play "Hey Ya".

WMJX is by no means a Smooth Jazz station. The songs that you are seeing are likely from the popular "Sunday Morning Jazz" program on 106.7. David Allan Boucher's "Bedtime Magic" may play a little Kenny G here and there, but for the most part, his show is a less-preachy, local, and way better version of Delilah.

To the poster who commented about the upbeat positioning: They certainly do fit in a lot of CHR-like tunes from artists like Kelly Clarkson, who the audience likely would know (or at least have heard of) from American Idol. Magic is certainly working well, they are on occasion the #1 FM station 12+, and has spinned off the Magics in New Jersey ("Magic 98.3" WMGQ) and Detroit ("Magic 105.1" WMGC).
