Impossible to tell with outlawdave.

Now that KIOL and KFNC are part of a partnership that Cumulus is in, ratings of under a 0.5 for KFNC and under a 1.5 for KIOL probably are not going to be tolerated. Unless either or both stations have a strong daypart, doubtful, I would not be surprised to see both formats history by 2Q 2006.

It really doesn't matter what goes on KFNC 97.5 the signal is just not listenable in Houston and the Cumulus partnership should try and build that frequency back up into a Golden Triangle station and stop fooling themselves that they will ever be a presence in Houston. Possibly flip the format over to 103.7 as KFNC's format may have a chance if people could hear the station and the station goes to actual news reporting for the majority of 24 hours a day that is live and local. The morning and evening news has definite possibility in it's present form, but needs to be nearly 24 hours a day. Jim Pruett's show would fit in much better as an all night show when wall to wall news and traffic isn't a necessity.

KIOL may have a chance at becoming a presence in Houston, but obviously Rock 103.7 is not the format. Personally I wish that KIOL was doing much better as I like the station, but I'm definitly in the minority. I feel that Wendy Miller, OD, and the weekenders all give 110% of themselves. W&J run either ice cold or hot, seems to be no middle ground and I get the feeling that they are just going through the motions of doing a morning show lately. W&J have dropped subtle hints that it is time for a different station on more than a few occasions.
