Outstanding E-skip opening 6/30/2017 - 26 NEW and counting!! MUF well over FM

Best Es opening since at least 2015! Almost 3 hours of non stop skip to California, Arizona, Nevada, Baja California and even wisps of Utah and New Mexico. MUF reached 169 mhz, and several contacts made between the Pacific NW and Arizona on 2 meters. I was out most of the time but brought the recorder and radio--good thing I did. And we're not even at 26 confirmed because I have some SS UNIDs to get through! Not all of the new logs were recorded, but a majority were.

The 95.9 SSer has been IDed as KXXZ Barstow, CA.
The 98.3 SSer has been IDed - XHMIX La Rumorosa, BCN (near Mexicali).
The 100.3 mentioning 'Latino' has been IDed as KQMR Globe, AZ.
So that's now 42 new from this opening! Most I've ever had in one day on FM. Total on FM now 603 logged in Yakima.

The 98.3 SSer has been IDed - XHMIX La Rumorosa, BCN (near Mexicali).

Keep in mind that Mexico does not have the same concept of a city of license that we have in the US. Stations are increasingly listed by the location of the transmitter site, which may be in a different geographical location or municipality from the main community being served. In this case, Mexicali.

Think of the AM's licensed to New York City; most operate from a transmitter site in New Jersey. Were the Mexican system employed, those stations would be officially identified as being from Newark or some other area, town or city in New Jersey.

It's just a different way of doing things. For the DXer, it really pinpoints where the signal is coming from!
