Outstanding E-Skip Today

For fellow DX'ers, it was a great afternoon to be stuck in beach traffic. There was a great e-skip opening between 4 and 5:30 PM. It was tough to identify stations; stations were tuning in and out within seconds. One station that came in crystal clear for about three minutes was "Rewind 94.9" out of Cincinnati. Most of the other stations I heard were from Bloomington, Illinois and other locations in the southern half of Illinois.

One clue that DX-ing conditions were good: While listening briefly to B101, the station started to fade. When a local is fighting it out with another station on the same frequency, that is a pretty good indicator that DX'ing is good.

Nicely done. Still waiting for my first Es of the season here in SC. Only ID'ed one NE station in '09. 73!

Interesting how variable it is. I heard nothing all day yesterday.
