Over the air radio RIP

....because Albany Broadcasting is small potatoes. The cluster is bleeding money and is letting people go left and right. Jackie is overseeing the "re-imagining" of WROW while Jay (of Ben and Jay fame) has been re-programming FLY92 the past two weeks (don't say you haven't noticed the changes in the playlist) so it will avoid hurting B and JAMZ. Paul Vandenburgh is said to have turned down an offer to buy the cluster at fire sale prices.
 
Wrong again Johnny_45. On all counts. For the most part I like your blogs so keep it coming. However, your facts are off as usual. Remember - all you have to do is ask.

45 is right on two counts. The cluster is bleeding money just like the rest of radio excepting the fact that Pamal is bleeding faster. He is half right in people being let go left and right but there have been more resignations than pink slips.

From what I hear it has been mostly on the sales side of the building that the door is revolving and there haven't been any major on-air talent exits. Any thoughts on "who's next" and if anyone on the "talent" side of the building will exit?
 
I do not think that any on-air will walk away from Albany Broadcasting. I have been told when James buys something he keep it for a very long time. I can see the sales people walking becasuse if companys are not making money then they can not buy air time. Do you have any news as to what is going on over at Pamal Broadcasting in Fishkill?

As far for Johnny-45 is sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. Were you let go by Albany Broadcasting?
 
Johnny is alive and well at ABC! But thanks to cost overruns, some nice people at FLY, JAMZ and WROW aren't so lucky. Latest casualties: the news department at 590.

Notice anyone missing? If so, they're GONE!

The web site has changed as part of the "new direction"...dontcha just love when PDs resort to the old " taking the station in a new direction"?....usually, that's short for "we're firing some people to save a buck, and that includes YOU".

So when and if they update to "new" website, you can look for the people that aren't there and deduce who is part of the "new direction".

Ho hum. The lameness/sameness of the "new direction" is a true bore. Not showing much originality.

Good luck with Pamal, Sherman. I'll just say Hello and Goodbye now. I expect they'll chew you up and spit you out like so many others before you. Plan accordingly.
 
Sherman said on the air today that newscaster Synthia Senegal is "no longer with us" and come to think of it, I haven't seen Mary Sylver around. Don't be surprized if they don't turn up at Talk1300!

BOB MASON makes his return to radio this weekend on Talk1300!

Mary Silver isn't around and everyone is jealous of her but she's busy dating someone in law enforcement.

I highly doubt Paul would hire either of them because he took who was worth it with him when he left and that's that.

He wants 1300 to succeed. Cynthia I could see landing there but Mary? No way!

JD is in Bennington or Rutland or somewhere in Vermont last I heard.
