Overall lack of concern, listeners suffer

the other day i heard a promo on 99.5 telling people that the Rock of New Orleans could be found on 104.1. While this promo was running they were palying a clip of "Sweet Child O Mine." This should lead listeners to believe that 104.1 was going to be playing 99.5 former playlist. Well, all I have heard on 104.1 is mid 90's and some early 2000 Alt rock.
I have not heard G-N-R. Do PD's, Imaging people even care about what they tell people? Sad, wouldn't they promote the station properly?
Do people in radio even care about the music or artists anymore?
Also, this goes for all ROCK station PD's. Enough of CREED. Grow some balls. I don't care how well the songs tested or how many albums they sold. Any real rocker will tell you CREED sucks. I could handle maybe "One" or "What's this life for" but do not play 'With Arms Wide Open" ......honesty, how can these guys play Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit?" as well? Jesus, have we not heard this song enough since 1992?
The only thing left on commercial radio is specialy programs like "House of Hair" or "Little Stevie's Underground Garage."
Man, I could keep going....Why play Sublime "Wrong Way" when you have to bleep out a word every verse??????
Who suffers in all of this? People who like ROCK.
You know I haven't heard "Freebird" in ten minutes??????
I hear "I'll Be There For You" by Bon Jovi???
Why not "Let it Rock?" That song rocks.
Blah Blah Blah. The Consultant said this....
We put 100 people in a room and 51 said they want to hear Boston "Long Time" atleast twice a day. Also they said to play the same songs in the same hours daily. Pearl Jam "Daughter" should be played 78% of the time you play Pearl Jam music. Also, STP's "Wicked Garden" will fit anywhere at anytime. Duh, can't anyone do something that ROCKS? Do I have to buy XM or Sirius.

Sorry for the rant. Just fed up with same old same old and overall lack of concern or passion for ROCK across the board....

the answers to all of the above is no they dont care. the industry sucks. clear channel sucks. and since 104.1 has a playlist of 55 songs they suck also. i have xm and sirius. you need one or the other or both. i can listen to a hornets game without static from baton rouge to memphis. i can hear a saints game in ohio. and most importantly i can turn on the radio and hear marilyn manson, slayer, motorhead, one of 75+ merle haggard songs or the entire waylon library anythime my turning on xm or sirius. its priceless!!

Smash, I agree totally...Sirius has been my lifeline having been relocated to Houston--where they play bull riding on FOX 26 instead of Saints football. I use it for Saints games and Hornet games if I'm not at home watching them on Leauge Pass. After an to the FOX station here regarding the Saints games, the reply I received is only 3% of the viewers would be interested in Saints football. I say bullcrap.

With respect to CC here in Houston, same thing...the Buzz here plays about 50 songs. Their HD-2 station is a different story...anything from psychadelic furs to marilyn manson. It rocks but is too wide of a playlist for the main frequency and the people listening to hear "the new one" from ^insert group wouldn't listen. Bayou committed suicide by not being a mainstream rock station. They could've played a 70% new/30% classic rock mix and be the only rock station in town right now (except for KXOR, which is a good station but not a "NOLA" station ;D).

OK only station in town playing this music. it has been a long time since we have heard this on New Orleans radio. If you listen to the station the do play G-N-R. I listen to Rod when he came on the air Wed. morning on my way home from work and he said the station is tweaking the music till they get it right. He said they will play some old stuff from that other station and some new stuff to give them a chance. Now as for Rod, Rod is great when he is live. This taped stuff sucks. Does he think we are idiots and thinking that he is live. Like the Morning Train Wreck says, a morning show in New Orleans should be LIVE from New Orleans. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!
