I think KGO wants the cheapest thing in the overnight hours and if it's an infomercial they'd probably take that and at least get paid for the time.

Probably not, David Kaye. They are clearing a Cumulus network program. The company wants that clearance in SF more than they want a cheap infomercial.

Bloomberg is NOT a Cumulus network program. First, there are a couple Bloomberg shows. Bloomberg West runs twice, and as far as I know is a net-only stream. Bloomberg On The Economy appears to be a rerun from the previous day's podcast, and Bloomberg First Word appears to be something taken from their New York station.

But none of them are distributed by Cumulus.

This is specifically why I suggested an infomercial might be more to their liking. It looks to me that the Bloomberg stuff is more fill than anything. Only the last hour, the "First Word" appears to be topical at all. The rest are either generic or reruns from too many hours previous to be usable.

My opinion...they are getting $ out of clearing this. There is no way they are just running it. They will go to all news overnights before they air infomercials. Even if the ratings aren't what they were, and it's overnights, the power ratio is high enough on news and sports stations that it's worth their while. Note that the morning news now starts at 4 am.

910 AM runs the last hour of WSJ...which is a rerun every single hour all night, with some fresh plug ins for news several times an hour. They have run this at 5am since they dropped CNET and went talk. Frankly, you can't get any money for all nights from infomercial people anyway. They want to buy for like $100 an hour or such...and if they don't get 4 times that in orders from each hour, they tend to cancel. I ran a station that had 25 hours a week of infos, I know.

It seems to work at WABC, KABC, and WBAP. They all run infomercials, and what's more, they run them on the weekend overnight, which is the least listened to of all. In fact, WABC has a minimum of 6 full hours of infomercials.

Maybe the SF market is different, but I don't think so. I think it hasn't been done yet because it has been done yet. I'm not advocating for infomercials, but given the cheapness at Cumulus, I wouldn't put it past them to be first on the block to book infomercials on KGO.
