Tonight is the last broadcast of the 3rd shift with Jon and Jeff on TKK. Overnight America premieres Monday on TKK. John and Jeff kind of grew on me but i am looking forward to the new show

WTKK does confirm on their facebook (I posted info): Hi Bob, You are correct. Jon & Jeff have been great but are ending their radio Broadcast on 96.9 FM/WTKK. I like(d) John & Jeff, BUT, it seems for the last two months (or more!) they have been all repeats or John has done it solo a few times, so I don’t know if something is wrong with Jeff or the show itself is readying to close shop or what, but...
 
I don't know who this John Grayson guy is but it has to be an improvement over John and Jeff. Not only is the content of J&J bad but the sound quality is terrible. It sounds like they're in an empty high school gym with all the echo. I don't know if that's from their studio or the mix at TKK. I'd rather Phil Hendrie, I find him on I Heart Radio stations when I need my fix though.

I was listening to WCRN-AM 830 this morning and they mentioned that the Mike Huckabee show would be starting on Monday. I think they will only be running the final hour @ 2 p.m.

They added Overnight America a while ago although their website still lists the Midnight Radio Network. Their website show listings leave a lot to be desired.

WBEC in Pittsfield is one of two stations that dropped Rush recently; I think they are picking up
Huckabee. Huck will be delayed till 8 pm on WOR NY. The WCRN site mentions money/biz shows 9-noon and midday news for an hour at
noon; also a 1 pm Fri show on taxes. I don't know what they're running now 1-2 pm or will
run as of next week (as you say they'd picking up Huckabee 2-3 pm)--would say Ingraham
but right now no mention of her on the site.

Doesn't WCRN continue to carry that execrable Drew Mortgage show (quite possibly the worst show on radio--maybe even the worst show in the history of radio--in any language and any country)? I think it's on from 11:00AM to noon M-F.

I presume that Drew Mortgage or the guy who owns Drew Mortgage and does the show holds a note on WCRN or its property. I imagine that he gets free air time in lieu of the station having to make mortgage payments and if WCRN tried to move the program to a more appropriate time (say, 3:00 to 4:00AM), Drew Mortgage would call in its note and would wind up owning WCRN--or WCRN would go dark. Only reason I can think of why any station would carry something that horrendous. I've thought for a long time that if WCRN could move the mortgage program to 3:00 to 4:00AM, Brother Stair from midnight to 3:00AM or even just 2:00AM to 3:00AM would make a perfect lead-in and, together, the two programs would probably bring in enough $$$ for WCRN to broadcast something more interesting during the rest of the broadcast day. WCRN is a terrible waste of 50 kW on a channel that's not too noisy!

Dan, I think the Drew Mortgage show is only on Tuesday & Thursday now at 11 a.m.

And I have to say that I respectfully disagree with your opinion that WCRN is a terrible waste of a 50kW channel.

In addition to them carrying Overnight America with John Grayson now, they have Red Sox baseball, a live & local morning news program with Sherman Whitman actually in their studios and not from a news hub ala Clear Channel’s WTAG, and they added local news throughout the day at a time when most radio stations are either cutting back local news or at best, using a news service.

This week they launched brand new imaging and added Bob Hokanson with local news from 1 p.m. through the early evening. WCRN also has local news on Saturday’s and Sunday’s.

Although they carry some syndicated shows during the weekdays, they run them live not delayed, giving the station an edge over their main rival, WTAG.

My biggest gripes about WCRN is their website is updated infrequently at best and they need traffic reports that encompass the Worcester area and not just what is happening on the Southeast Expressway and 128.

I would much rather listen to WCRN run by local ownership than Corporate radio that could care less about the listener as long as the bottom line is profitable.
