Overnight News Dude

Here is a random thought...

Have you noticed that the overnight "news guy" on 970WFLA has a slightly robotic sounding voice? Maybe I just drink to much before I flip my radio on at night. Seriously though, is this guy for real? I don't believe I've ever heard him make any mistakes on air. He kinda reminds me of the computer generated voice on NOAA weather radio. Also, the first part of his last name sounds dangerously close to a forbidden 4 letter word... Yes, I am sober right now.

No, he's not robotic, but in my opinion, he's just plain awful. His voice isn't authoritative at all. He sounds more likely to tell a naptime story to a bunch of kindergarteners than reading the news updates during the overnights. And really, is a time check at the bottom of the hour between the news and weather absolutely necessary? Also, if he was the only source of news that you got during the day, you wouldn't know that the Lightning had a game last night because more often or not, when the sports segment is on, he doesn't even announce what they did if they had a game last night. Honestly, I wish that they had Bill Cole doing the overnights during the week. But please, don't even think about bringing back Hal "i'm so melodramatic" Lamb to the overnight slot.

I'm not exactly sure what made me think of it, I must have found his monotonous delivery to be somewhat robotic in nature. Although I didn't actually think that he was a computer generated voice, I guess now that I am thinking about it, I wouldn't put it past CC. Enough negativity from me for today though, I think I'm still bitter over the lack of GOOD live & local talk on the air here.
