Overnight programs

Driving into work, I've found the same few shows all across the band. Coast-to-Coast and Red Eye Radio are ubiquitous with Phil Hendrie & Overnight America being on considerably less. I have to say those last 2 shows are decent to listen to (right now O.A. edges out Hendrie) but Coast-to-Coast is boring with Noory on and R.E.R. is tedious!

Overnight America with Jon Grayson is an excellent show. It's been my listening choice since Doug McIntyre's Red Eye Radio went off the air, but I need to stream it since there are no affiliates in my area.

I guess the lack of balance among the syndicated overnight shows has to do with the strength of distribution. I believe OA is distributed by CBS and they seem to be gaining some ground with it lately.

There's also America Tonight with Kate Delaney. She does a good job. If you force me to listen to Conservative Talk, at least she's not as extreme as most Talk Hosts and more info-oriented. I don't think she has many affiliates.

And there's Jim Bohannon. He does his show live 10pm - 1am ET, although in some markets they delay him and run him overnight. I also think he's pretty good, and guest-driven. But he has clearly changed his political views over the last few years from Moderate to Conservative. I don't really believe it. I have the feeling he did this after most of Talk Radio has moved the same way. When he took over after Larry King got his CNN job in the 90s, the AM radio landscape wasn't the way it is today. Bohannon's views originally were not that much different than King's when he first got the job.

There's also America Tonight with Kate Delaney.

Is it my imagination or does she sound tired and bored lately? She seems to be stretching her words to fill time as though she's not really prepared or interested in what she's about to say. Years ago I believe she had much more pep and enthusiasm.

Larry King actually got his job as host of "Larry King Live" for CNN in 1985. As for the topic, it reminded me of "The Joey Reynolds Show" and how much I miss its host and the pleasant discussions of the program.

I wonder what happened to Joey Reynolds after the end of his last program "All Night with Joey Reynolds" for WNBC-TV's digital sub-channel "NBC New York Nonstop"?

Is that the Genesis show?

Is this the same one who was the "Sports Princess" in the 90s? Dang! I'd never even heard of her doing a regular talk show. I first heard her on a Dallas affiliate doing a sports show out of Las Vegas. Then, oddly enough, she left the Vegas show to come to Dallas and do a locally based show that replaced the national show during the evening hours.
