Wicked song... has that electro pop sound like 3oh3 and cobra starship, I heard it on Electric 94.9 WAEz yesterday.... Will it chart, have you tested it.

Owl City has been blowing up the phones here for over a month and a half, but then again he's from Minnesota (just a couple hours from where I am) and the label's push is helping it.

The only thing I don't like about the CD is that it's all auto-tune...but yeah, he has that Postal Service and Hellogoodbye sound.

It was surprising this song hit #1. It was very polarizing yet it charted strongly. Wonder about the lasting power of this song....

He almost sounded like Death Cab For Cutie, until I heard the auto tune. IMO the auto tune doesn't sound overused in this song compared to others.

The vocalist on "Fireflies" is actually Matt Thiessen of Relient K.
While Thiessen does contribute elsewhere on the album, Owl City's Adam Young is that song's lead singer.

Houston's 104 KRBE did a parody of the song on their morning show, singing about how "crappy" the song is. The problem is that 1)the guy who sung it is a horrible singer and 2)the lyrics were very redundant and not funny - not in an "I'm offended someone is making fun of my favorite song" but not funny as it was just plain stupid. Just imagine the new SNL skits (Taylor Swift being an exception) and you will know what I am talking about.

For the life of me I don't understand how it hit #1. I don't hate the song like some other posters; actually, I am blase about it - I can take it or leave it.

It must have scored on radio points alone as I just don't see this being a huge digital download. It is still being played in my market constantly.

Actually, the song first made an impact on the digital download charts, and once that happened a lot of radio stations took notice of it so this is a bonafide smash with Pop audiences.
The song is experiencing the same type of success story abroad. It's currently number one in the UK
