Owner Claims WWAC is the only station he owns that doesn't suck.

Have you listened to the new slogan of WWAC? They claim to be radio station that doesn't suck.

It is somewhat of an offensive and somewhat hurtful slogan. I do think some radio station owners might be a bit offended by it especially those that offer a similar format.

One point I should make is that the owner of this radio station claims via the slogan that this is the only radio station that doesn't suck. In other words, the owner is insisting that all his other owned stations suck...

Did he really want to say that? ???

It's all ll about what is on the playlist. You gotta admit, KissFM took the taste out of people's mouths to just go that direction.

I think you are "twisting" it.

Outside of us "radio geeks", no one is going to care who owns a radio station. So by no means is Wild 102.7 bashing ANY of the other stations Atlantic Broadcasting owns. It's just marketing, plain and simple. Besides, I caught a couple of promos where they bleeped certain words out. Doesn't offend me and other radio stations have to see this as a fun "battle". I'd pay attention to the other stations too and see what comes out of this ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if another station group uses the slogan to fire back against WWAC's owner.

I mean the slogan insists that every other station in the Atantic Market sucks - that includes their own.

And it gets back to what I said, outside of radio "geeks" such as ourselves, which are actually a few of us, :) no one is going to know or care about ownership of stations. Okay, I admit I am NOT in your market so I don't know what the other stations such as WAYV are doing. But if other stations not owned by Atlantic use slogans like this, it should be VERY interesting :) I'm actually glued to my seat to see what happens :)

There's a very basic difference between marketing and facts. I think everyone understands that.

Twenty-five years ago Bob and Tom used the terminology with a slightly different twist: Speaking of their station (this was before their network/syndication days) "We suck less".

I tend to agree with you, I spent the weekend in Wildwood, And heard allot of what was going on!.. I like what there doing, But need to do a bit less "Club" to call it "CHR", anyway I think everyone needs to remember when you work in radio you tend to see things in a "new light", So by them saying "were the only station that doesn't suck", it's just a marketing game! anyone who dose radio sales would agree/understand!

Might be working just fine....it's got the attention of the "geeks"..if it starts the listening base mentioning it...that's a lot of advertising...who would think that a bank would call itself THE BANK??? Somebody did in Gloucester County and it took off....catching on with a bunch of new branches. As for longevity of the station...let's see how much income can be taken off the street during bad economic times. When the novelty wears off..like any new restaurant...the only thing that counts are the numbers in the book.

The entire first page of the Jersey board here is filled with posts about that little 102.7 in Atlantic City, a station that was pretty much ignored until now. I don't remember so many posts when 102.7 tweaked its rock format or upgraded its signal. I don't remember the entire first page of the New York board being filled with posts about 92.3 when it flipped to CHR.

That's New Jersey for you.

I could make a case that New Jersey is one of the birthplaces of radio. That would be for another thread.

It's also the birth place of the toxic waste. But that doesn't make it any more fitting.

SAM-

No need to be self-deprecating... just keep playing with your internet-radio contraption!

::)

AHHHHHHHHHHHH. Can't ya take a joke joke!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHh!!! Toxic waste is no joke!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!! Besides it's those FM polluters that ruined that medium anyway! AHHHHHHHHhhh! ...Wait! I see a revelation. I see the masses huddled around their FM radios. Marveling over the .2 MHz frequency jump LCD display. Disposing their hand held storage and internet ready receiving devices en mass for over processed limited signal 15k dynamic range. Wanting of HD FM. Enjoying endless limited commercial interruption promotions. ...The wonder of it all.

Look after 33 years of being and on the air.... giving birth to a station or Mike Ferriola and company have allot to be proud of the way this whole thing panned out. They are true broadcasters over there. The Wild will make bags full of money you will see.

This is going to work!!
