Owners Identifying HD Stations?

Since I am a fan of HD, I am noticing obvious
differences in how group owners deal with mentioning an
HD on the hour. Certainly on HD2-and-3s with separate
programming, it is usually announced, but on the main
channels, depends on an owner.  CC has 1 AM, KFI with
an HD, 5 FMs, KHHT, KIIS,KOST, KBIG, and KYSR.  None of
these ID their HD on a main channel any more.
Meanwhile CBS seems quite consistant about it.
I guess just about all the related ABC AMs HDs are
gone, but on FM KLOS is quite good about mentioning it.
I cannot comment about KSCA or KPWR.
Other inconsistancies, include KSSE which seems to have
an HD on the WestSide, but not here in the Valley, no
mention of it.  KXOS doesn't seem to mention on its
main channel, nor any ID on its HD2. KXOL sometimes IDs
its HD, but that HD supposedly broke in late June,
2010. What are actual FCC rules about identifying
these? Thanks in advance for analysis

I have found it odd that CC does not do an HD ID on their main channels, considering they are in HD on those main channels as well. Wondering if the FCC has a rule for that?

I would guess that since the FCC hasn't set strict standards on identifying the HD signals, some companies like CC aren't strict about it. Here in NYC, out of the CC stations, only WWPR actually identifies "WWPR and WWPR-HD1 New York". WHTZ, after its regular legal ID, mentions HD as one of the ways the station can be received (along with FM, satellite, iHeartRadio, and at their website). Then there's WRFF Philadelphia, which adds "...and 104.5 HD digital" after its legal ID. I'm guessing some of the stations that don't have any on-air HD identification might put it on the RDS.

Meanwhile, it seems standard for many stations, including CBS stations, to identify as "(Call letters) and (call letters) HD(1), (city)", or sometimes "(Call letters) FM and HD(1), (city)". I'm guessing the companies are dictating these rules rather than the FCC.

I heard KYSR ID its separate HD1 and HD2 channels as recently as a week or so ago. Have they changed it in the past week?

Just more words in the way of what the listener wants. Who cares, since no one is listening to HD anyway? And speaking of words that the listener doesn't care about, I seriously doubt that the average KLOS listener gives a rat's ass that it's a "Cumulus Station."

Beatrice anyone?
