Oz or Ox FM on 99.5?

While in Middletown today, playing taxi for Mom, she was tuning around looking for something, and she hit 99.5 while we were traveling north on Main st. just passing Rite Aid. I had her stop as I heard someone say "the new 99 5 FM" and so I listened for about a half hour between the normal battle for king between WBAI, WRVE, WCRB and that Storrs CT 5 watter of WNPR. At times it was pretty clear, others not so much, they were playing a variety of older tracks, 60's 70's & 80's almost a lite FM format and occasionally I heard someone using either an Australian or New Zeland accent say OZ FM (could have been OX, but I'm pretty sure if was OZ). I did not get a stereo signal. Any ideas?

Ok, I have an answer anyway. I had to head to the ConnectiCon office for our monthly staff meeting and listened to 99.5 on the way and as soon as I crossed the New Britain border it blasted in and again I heard them say they are "the new 99 5" and they also di the other ID again, but there was a dropout or two up route 9 and one happened just as they played that. Everything seems automated and it's the same voice I remember from the last time WNFR hit the airwaves. I can't believe after everything that happened with these guys that they still keep coming back, ok, maybe they figure since the FCC never caught wind of them that they can try again and calling themselves something else (and maybe even behaving) would prevent any problems, but let's face it, they have a rep, a very bad rep and it won't take long before they get some kind of big mention again.

There is an "Oz FM" in Newfoundland, but they don't have any transmitters on 99.5 and to my knowledge it's a rock format.

Yeah, there is also a rock based OZ FM in Canada as well (CHOZ?), this is not either of them and at this point I'm not so sure they are saying that, though it would go with the accent used. I'm 99.5 % (ha! get it?) sure it's those guys in Bristol again, they've been know to use jingles and such from other stations, plus I remember the voice of one the guys that have been on there before, he's the pone saying "the all new 99 5 FM".

glad to see I am not the only "OZ" around....
I only take part with 91.7 WXCI danbury CT Fridays 4-7.
I knew about OZ FM in Newnfoundland. I did not know they turned to Rock!!!! :) :) :)
