Ozzy rips MMR today on the Kidd show

carnyfeet said:
It's not funny or acceptable if Ozzy is doing it, and it's not funny or acceptable when an Ozzy impersonator is doing it.

Context has nothing to do with it. We get it - you wanna slam MMR, so you get an impersonator on the phone to call them morons and take jabs at Ozzy at the same time. It could have been accomplished the same way without bashing gays, but instead they chose to be prejudicial.

Whoever that Ozzy was, they should give him a show with Kelly Tilghman.

I agree with TU...Heard it.It's not the real Ozzy.
The real Ozzy does not remember ever changing radio personalities
names. When the real Ozzy has been on O&A....he has to be constantly
reminded that he's talked with them before....and when they speak,he
even says" Who said that". Love Ozzy, but the real one wouldn't give a
flip about local radio wars....Think about why the bit happened....New Show,
new tactics....new attacks

It's definitely not the real ozzy.. You can hear at some points where the accent was a little 'off'.. Also, why would Ozzy bash a radio station that plays his music? He's getting paid for their spins, and it'll take a REAL friend to go ahead and bash a competing station that plays your music.. And frankly, I just dont see Ozzy and Kid Chris hanging out. The real Ozzy won't say that he'll mistake WMMR as the Alamo so he can piss on it.. It's sad that Chris had to stopp so low and insult their listeners intelligence by faking the real ozzy.. Kinda lame, and Radio 101 IMHO

Why is everyone so politically correct? This is a morning radio skit. *** does'nt have to mean gay. Get a sence of humor. Howard Stern does these kinds of skits all the time. Kidd Chris is the best thing going on Philly radio(unless you have a brain, and get Sirius to listen to Stern) Preston and Steve are lame, and dumb!!!If you call into their show, you have to say ROCK AND ROLL, now thats a "faggy' Thing to say.

As to the gay bashing: Just substitute a derogatory term that refers to another minority, and it would immediately be categorized as unacceptable. Arguing that f-g is OK to use on the radio is just one more example that it's still OK to verbally bash gays in public discourse. No one would accept derogatory terms for African Americans or Hispanic Americans.

If this is the type of DJ that WYSP wants to employ and the type of material the station wants to put on the air, it ought to be ashamed that it can't do any better.

Its co-owned station, Channel 3, just reached out to the gay community after its former anchor allegedly called a NYC undercover police office a d-ke. Why should we expect any less from WYSP for what transpirted ON AIR earlier this week? If anything, it's worse because it happened on air rather than off air as the Alycia Lane incident allegedly happened.

Shame on WYSP, and CBS is a bunch of hypocrites if they don't come down on Kidd Chris for this.

Well dont confuse the two.....She also STRUCK AN OFFICER AS WELL..

You could always turn the dial, remember.

Everybody coming down on kidd for running a 'gay-bashing bit' (ill say that loosely). Almost every gay commedian makes fun of themselves or others for being gay. or african americans making deroggitory(sp) comments about their own race. Whats the difference?? Is it the person making the statement?? No i dont think so!! Its the person hearing it.

Lets all just put our hands over our ears just in case someone says something that may or may not offend someone else.

Hey.. Guess what?? Im Irish and I dont drink!! So next time I see or hear someone making a corralation(sp) between being Irish and Drinking alcohol.....well....im gonna..... ::)

I was scanning the airwaves at around 7:30 this morning and caught Ozzy on WYSP, I had to stop and listen, he was on a rant ripping P&S and the whole station on a whole. I thought it was a joke and the guy was a impersonater, but it was the real Ozzy and it was live. Ozzy really went wild ripping MMR from day one and the jocks, especially P&S, and he kept using the f-a-g- word over and over. I could not believe what I was hearing. If I was MMR I would not promote this act, it was insane if you could get the original airing you would know what I mean.

Anyone with half a pulsing neuron knows that wasn't Ozzy. I don't have to hear it.

I've always been taught that it's all in context. A white person calling a black person the "N" word is a huge no-no.... but two black people using it amongst themselves is more accepted because of the context. The same thing goes with Meredith Brooks' song "Bitch." She, calling herself a bitch seems OK, but if the DJ were to talk about her and call her a bitch, it could rub people the wrong way.

If a gay guy calls himself a "F**", he's using it to make fun of himself. A radio DJ using the word repeatedly... not funny in the least.

IMHO.

We're told Real Ozzy's people later complained to 'YSP about the prank after the record company was contacted by WMMR...

The guy who opened up his life to MTV's cameras for three years, exposing his mental status to be what it is, is now complaining about the light in which he is being portrayed by an impressionist on the radio? Not to blame Ozzy, though. Something tells me that if someone actually told Ozzy about this, he'd tell his "people" to stop wasting their time complaining about it.

I guess what both MMR and Ozzy's people are admitting that the impression was pretty spot on. The impressionist should take this as the highest compliment.

I remember when David Letterman or his people (or was it Vinny Favale from CBS) complained when Howard Stern had the guy on doing the spot on Letterman impressions. Howard was forced by CBS to constantly refer to the character as "evil Dave," so the listeners wouldn't think it was really Dave.

Despite what one might think of WMMR, I will say that they are a class act in my opinion. When WYSP switched to FREE-FM a couple of years ago, WMMR publicly wished WYSP the best, even though they had been rivals for so many years. There are numerous examples of WMMR's public display of professionalism.

WYSP, however, always seems to sink to the lowest common denominator...and this Ozzy fiasco is no exception.

If Kidd Chris is now stooping to this level in order to defeat P&S, I agree that it's pathetic.

ok...thats one example....

Anyway, I digress...

Competition always works out best for consumer.

I'm just looking foward to the one-sided radio war. What are P&S going to when they can't steal anymore bits?? They may have to rely on their witticism. Ouch...Good luck with that! Gadzooks ::)

What are P&S going to when they can't steal anymore bits??

Everyone steals bits...that's been going on throughout history. Apparently The Three Stooges stole bits from silent films from the early 20th century. That's the nature of the biz.

But I digress. I'm just saying that there's a difference between stealing a bit or two and getting some goofball impressionist to say your competitor sucks. I will agree though, it makes for an interesting radio war.

;D I am glad you didnt take offense to my comments. ;)

I know the bit stealing is part of the tv/radio world. But that is the major reason why I prefer KC over the other possibilities on the am/fm dial (i do not agree with paying for radio--so the other two media sources I opt out on) But the repetitiveness and cookie-cutter radio was and still is a major reason why people are paying for radio that is otherwise free!

Bottom line is,goofball impressionist bit worked!! Plain and simple. Not only is this board flaming up with responses and opinions about it, it pissed off WMMR & Ozzy's people as well. It made for great radio. It was original. KC did it to entertain his listeners. Thats why I listen.

Fair enough.

I am one of those people who is paying for radio, and therefore didn't hear the bit. But yes...if KC builds this kind of show, they will come.

No offense taken. ;D

I believe it was former WYSP jock Don Geronimo who coined the phrase, "If you steal from me, you're stealing twice."

I wonder how much food or blood the Kid Chris fans would donate? How about that for a war?
