Pacifica Radio Troubles

They always seem to have financial problems, back in the 70s too. Maybe the Koch brothers will buy them and turn it into tparty radio.

They're used to someone else paying the bills and bailing them out every time. Hopefully that is finally coming to an end. Let someone who can run a radio company have their frequencies.

I've read a rumor (unconfirmed) that Minnesota Public Radio would be purchasing the Pacifica stations. Even so, they may still have to let WBAI go because of the high cost of running it. We'll see what transpires.

Typical stunt. Make up something and post it on one board. Then go and cite the post on other boards. Unfortunately, this is a tactic of which the right is especially fond.

And "even so," if anyone had been following the trade publications or the more developed thread on the New York board, he would know that the staff had been given notice. Cost of running WBAI? Beyond the Con Ed bill and rent for the transmitter, nothing is set. Cost depends on what a buyer does with the license and whom he hires to do it.

At this point, a pirate would do better.
