Packers-Cowboys game

I'm curious if the Packers-Cowboys game is being shown in Green Bay and Dallas on local stations. I recall seeing a Falcons game on a local station in Atlanta, but the broadcast was done by the NFL Network. Do they put the games on the teams' respective preseason stations?

Luckily I do have the channel on my cable. Watching the game now, Bryant Gumbel has been DREADFUL as the announcer. He has misspoke numerous times and made a bunch of mistakes, one being when he said there were X minutes left in the "first period" instead of "first half." Great game, just not impressed with Mr. Gumbel.

I have to agree with your Gumbel evaluation. The guy is terrific on HBO's 'Real Sports'... but awful in a live play-by-play situation. He just doesn't fit. In between plays, I kept expecting him to do a toss over to Willard Scott for some lame 100 year old birthdays brought to by Smuckers. :D

Frank Gifford... even though he is older than dirt, would be a better choice.

Yes, as with ESPN games, all NFL Network games are simulcast on stations in the home (blackout rule permitting) and away markets.

I understand the game was telecast on local stations in Green Bay *and* Milwaukee, but not in Madison, WI. And of course, in Dallas.

Last year, the Giants/Redskins tilt in Week 17 was shown on WNBC/4 and I think they're going to simulcast the Giants/Patriots game this year as well.

KDFI/27 in Dallas was the lucky local here. Despite that, much was still made around here about the less-than-full carriage of NFLN. I heard from family east of town that their local cable system wouldn't break down and carry NFLN, so many hissyfits (instead of footballs) were thrown there. Too bad they didn't know anyone with a dish.

There also seemed to be a misunderstanding by some folks prior to the game -- apparently, many did not know that the game could be received anywhere that KDFI is available over the air or on cable. That misunderstanding was apparently increased by some satellite marketing telling cable viewers that they wouldn't be able to watch the game unless they switched to satellite.

Dallas-Fort Worth television writer Ed Bark (<www.unclebarky.com>) reported on his website that KDFI averaged 815,739 households watching for the duration of the game, so apparently a lot of folks eventually figured out that it was available, despite the confusion. It's also a really impressive number for a station that otherwise normally limps along with 10 or 15 thousand households watching it's normal "MY TV" primetime programming.
