Page radio stations to go dark on Dec 31

Taped an hour of them yesterday via listen.streamon.fm/kxaz. Nice, freeform adult hits format from 1980s-2010s, and local news too.

EDIT - Off already. RIP KXAZ, 1981-2022.

It seems to me the owner got tired of so many things going against her and she was ready to just hang it up. Covid, house getting destroyed, losing the AM tower site, and being overworked. It can seem like the world is against you and easier to just say "F it" and walk away.

I agree with what exdjted has suggested... turn the AM in, go HD, no office, and run it light. The cost for the AM to rebuild and cost of land (rent or buy) are not worth effort when the format can be moved to an HD subchannel and translator. I'm betting though that the current FM transmitter probably isn't HD ready so that would be an additional expense, likely $50K+ for a 5kW transmitter. Get the stations back on the air, if revenue starts coming in can add a DJ or two in mornings and/or afternoons.

Update... Stations are back on the air. AM with a temporary setup. Stations were sold for $150,000.
Details with new branding here.
