I noticed while driving through Palm Springs the other day that the former CV 104.3 oldies format has found a new home on 104.3 HD 2 and it is feeding the Indio translator of K226BT at 93.1 FM. Not sure when 104.3 KHCV started broadcasting in HD, but their HD 2 format is playing the same music as the former CV 104.3 with a mix of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Kind of interesting considering that KPSF 1200 AM had picked up the slack and hired a bunch of the former CV 104.3 air staff along with John Tesh and put the oldies format on their K265FH translator at 100.9 FM. In my listening, the sound quality of the 100.9 FM translator was seriously lacking compared to 93.1 FM, which sounded great with full stereo. Also, I noticed that KPSF tended to play older, softer and more obscure music than 104.3 HD 2.
I haven’t been able to find anything online about this switch with the 93.1 FM K226BT Indio translator flipping to oldies nor news of KHCV feeding this translator with their new HD-2 oldies format, but it was a nice listen when I was driving through Indio and Palm Springs. I’d imagine @DavidEduardo might have a little more insight into this since he is a local!
