Pamal To Flip WBPM To Classic Hits

From AllAccess.com:

PAMAL BROADCASTING, which is acquiring Oldies WBPM (COOL 92.9)/POUGHKEEPSIE in a multi-station swap with CLEAR CHANNEL (NET NEWS 5/25/06), intends to flip the station from "Good Times & Great Oldies" to Classic Hits when it takes control of the station on FEBRUARY 1, the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL reports. RANDY TURNER is reportedly set to serve as PD.

That is great news, no more of this pre-1964 music on that station, yay! :D

The good news is, although format tweaks are inevitable, perhaps cutting off some of the older music; PAMAL BROADCASTING seems to be sticking with the same basic format. I hope they keep Tom Kent, his show is outstanding and the main reason I listen to WBPM. As for the WBPM jocks, while Rick McCaffery is the local dean of oldies; The rest of them are quite forgettable.
Unfortunately the sited Poughkeepsie Journal Article is not available on line, does anybody have a copy they could e- mail me at [email protected]

I still think 92.9 rock was the best!
their slogan we got coop ***k them

I hope this would be a great idea for Pamal to flip WBPM from oldies to something called Classic Hits. I guess Cool 92.9 will not be calling it "Good Time and Great Oldies" anymore, it will be an updated oldies format playing mostly 80's songs with plenty of 70's and some for the 60's.

Look at the playlists where WHCN's 105.9 The River where it's in Hartford, CT. It's on yes.com

http://yes.com/station/WHCN

I hope Pamal will step up to the plate and they will change the format as of Thursday. Will have to see, but we got 14 hours to go for Cool 92.9 and they'll be history like the way WCBS-FM had flipped to "Jack" since June 3rd, 2005. Be prepared.
