Panama City Book

Congrats on the top stations as usual CCENG! I am sure robs thrilled as well. I think it's time to divest if I am a firm located in NYC. Gin at Capt. A's to celebrate?

So is Charlie the only reason Clear Channel consistently owns the ratings in Panama City or is there someone else pulling strings?

WFLF/WFLA 94.5 is going downhill to 4.1 what happen there? In Tallahassee WFLA 100.7 is #1 but fall sightly from 6.3 to 5.1 What do u guys think of WFLA's FM stations (newstalk) will they stick around alittle longer or flip another format?

Does Tallahassee still have a second FM news talk station not owned by FSU? There's competition in Panama City.

Poledo,

106.1 (now WQTL) made an attempt at a second news/talker. It performed horribly and didn't last six months.

That station seems to have found a niche with oldies and has slightly under a 4 share, which is
good in this market.

Tallahassee's WFLA is tied with Opus' Hot 104.9 for the top position. Since there is not another N/T station I think it's unlikely that CC would flip it.

Since FSU has their NPRs split with all music (classical only?) on WFSQ and all talk on WFSU, that makes WFSU count more as a news/talk than most NPR's out there. I was pretty sure 106.1 had flipped a while back, that's just one of those stations I'm usually not close enough to pick up and when I am close enough I'm glued to WVFS. I also would not be the slightest bit surprised if someone had tried or will try to do news and or talk and or sports on one of the smaller Tally FMs. TLH Seems like a perfect market for competing non-muisc, non-church FM stations... an even better market for 2+ news/talk FMs than Gainesville or Panama City.

Is WFSW FM an exact simulcast of WFSU FM or do they change anything that goes out over the airwaves of the Pamama City station?
While I'm asking... does WFSG TV simulcast WFSU exactly or are there any changes in Panama City. I never get to watch WFSG because of that short ass tower. Don't listen to enough NPR to know what's what.

I've since moved away from the area, but WFSW's schedule is separate from WFSU and WFSQ. Much of the time WFSW is carrying the same programming as one of the Tallahassee stations, but they do carry some things out of pattern to match the time zone difference. Also, WFSW used to carry part of the CBC's As It Happens, which did not air on WFSU. I believe that WFSU and WFSG are simulcast full time.

Great engineering doesn't hurt! (A tip of the hat to cceng). But more importantly, start with the market's two best FM signals (PAP/FSY) and buy those sticks as established market leaders... then don't f*ck them up.

By this time, though, it must be acknowledged that 99.3 The Beat has a firm grip on 18-34s (12-24s) in PCB. Island is hanging in there... but it should be obvious to Uh-Oh that the Great 108 needs to recruit Tibbs back to the beach and try to reboot the thang in one of those Classic Something formats. Classic Rock... Classic Hits... Classic Rock Hits... We Play The Kitchen Sink...

Wow. Anyone (esp. Poledo) would possibly think PAP and FSY were run by anyone other than Wooten? What? Possibly during hunting season...yes. ;D It's Robert Strobey*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMFMXM <---I think I know who this monikor is (sorry, I have all but disappeared on these here boards for the past 13 months while working for a change...post retirement Part 2, assuming AMFMXM would be the logical fixer of P-cola's MY FM....am I correct of who AMFMXM evolved into??)

RE: WPFM ~ Si --- I promise that if Double 0h-No would step out of the box and send me a msg on here --- I'd probably take the fix-it gig based upon a post-performance basis in a heart beat just dang because...and you'd be pretty dern (sp?) correct as to the proper format. That cluster is not that hard to fix. (I wish someone on the ground in PCB would explain why and how they are not bleeding to death on Gwyn...) FIX THE CURSE. (I honestly do believe that if they're not stable in two years, they will NEVER recover and that's saying alot. There's no time left to allow avg. radio to continue to allow listeners to escape in over-radioed markets like PCB.) Gotta be smart, lean and precise. And get the soul back. Anyway...somethings amiss. Like no snow.

Yes I was suggesting that Charlie Wooten was the man entirely responsible for the CC PCB cluster and it's performance. He doesn't even really need time off for hunting season now a days because a high tech redneck can just run the stations from a laptop or smart phone while waiting to hear a noise from the tree stand. (I bet his cell phone smells like doe pee pee! he he, I typed pee pee.)
I was wondering if anyone else at CC PCB offered input or if possibly Charlie had an apprentice (that's not exactly the word I was looking for... What do they call that younger guy that does all the work that the customer expects and then the boss/teacher steps in and tells him everything he did wrong because it is not perfect in the master's eye and makes the young student tear it all apart and start over?) Does anyone from San Antonio even bother trying to micro-manage the PCB stations?

Okay, so I fell out of a tree on Saturday and I'm tanked up on muscle relaxers and am as slow as grandma driving a hot rod. I may not be typing anything coherently. I apologize.

poledo....I don't hunt out of a tree.....we use hounds....aka "dog hunting" to hunt deer....therefore, my cell phone does not smell like Tinks's #69 Doe in Heat aka Doe Pee Pee....and deer season lasts until Feb 19 here in the Panhandle.....I take NO responsibility for CCPC's ratings sucess except that CC gives me the resources to keep the transmitters stay on the air and the audio processing acceptable....programming is up to the programming goobs.

Take the credit, Charlie. You know you'd be great at it. Let rob change the strobey's.

Thinkin Dub-0 needs to divest at prices similar to the Apex fwb buy. hmmm.

Has the Boar's Head closed for good yet? Just thinkin about a good steak (and gin). Nothin else has survived after they took down the Miracle Strip. Everything always changes. I can probably play the old man in the wheelchair trick during Spring Break...some things never change.

LOL--yeah, Tibbs, you got me. A year or so ago I seemed to have hit a wrong key or something and blew up RNR and couldn't fix it. But I figured this last post might clue you in--not many know your sordid history as a legendary Great 108 jock...

I plead the fifth (of gin of course) on anything even related to legendary. Unless only in my mind. Yee still in the same location? Re AMFMXM Great new moniker. Cutting edge and well ahead of the curve of reality of where 'it's' headed. I do miss the RNR. We need a Wootenfest 2012 at da beach. CCENG. The weather in Nashville has been really beach like all 'winter'. If I take my happy @$$ down your way it will be 31 degrees for a high every damn day. All the more reason to bring extra gin. How much do strobeys cost? I owe rob one. We can fix the issues in that market with one bottle and a red strobey.

We just lost one of our great voices in Music City, Mr. David Hall. Making me re-think the 60-70 hour weeks, CCENG. Planning a beach trip this week. Thinking March 18 or after. Croatia? Sounds like a great trip!!!! Shortwave, business or you're just helping someone out?

I assume y'all know Larry Butler passed away last month. Google it up in PNJ.Com for more info if you hadn't heard.
