Parkways Classical Music Network

Anybody recall "Parkways?" It was based in the DC area. We ran this tape based series on KTWN FM, Anoka Minnesota, during its three years as a classical music format. I recall Martin Bookspan and Terry Horrigan as two of the hosts. Anyone have any additional information. Are they still in biz? I read TH's obit. I recall him at Voice of American, when I visited there years ago.

I remember playing Parkways reel-to-reel tapes on a classical radio station in Texas during the 70's -- They were all one-hour long.

The great Martin Bookspan hosted a cool program called "First Hearing" where he would play a new record and a panel would have to guess the name of the composer -- it was actually pretty fun. Also I remember that we aired a program hosted by George Jellinek, but can't recall the name.

I can't find any mention of Parkways Productions through a Google search.

Yes indeed! The Parkways classical music programs were an hour long on 10 1/2 inch reels that we played back on Magnecords at KWTN back in the 70. Martin Bookspan did a segment. And yes, I recall "At First Hearing." That was a wonderful show. And George Jellinek was one of the panelists. He also had a show and I can't recall the name either. There was a classical music show on Sunday morning years ago here on KQRS. I think it came out of Detroit. Theme was from Dvorak's New World Symphony. Thanks for the reply.
