Part Time Air Talent

Cat Country 107.3/WPUR Atlantic City is in need of Part-Time Air Talent. On-Air experience is a must. EOE. If interested, email me: [email protected]. EOE.

It is so hard to find quality air talent for the weekends anymore. The industry is to blame. There is a pattern that produces this air talent, but that is all gone now, imagine major leage baseball trying to find players without little league, highschool, or college programs for baseball. How it went, guy walks into station, gets job as a promotions team member, either low pay or internship, and sets up events drives van around ETC. Him showing that he has a desire to be the in the business lands him a board op job. After doing that for a while, PD gives him a shot on the weekend overnights. If that goes well then he can get a prime time weekend slot and move on from there. This is all gone due to automation, and is why it is so hard to find good people to do weekend shifts.

Our college is slowly killing off the radio portion of our Radio/TV/Film program... the reason they quote is "not many of our graduates wish to go into radio". The large student staff that keeps our station running day to day 365 days a year wishes to disagree with him.

RE: Radio is fun, until you find out it pays two things: Jack and Shine, and Jack just left town.

The same can be said about ANY business! Maybe it's time to look in the mirror!

PS.... thanks to all who replied to my posting --- I'll get back with you soon. In the meantime, keep `em coming.

Joe, my statement wasn't designed to be a bash on you, just in the business in general. Outside of AE's in the sales and programming, I've found that it doesn't pay very well as compared to other fields.
