Partial format change in St. John's/Grand Falls/Gander

In a move to one of the most unique names in Canadian radio VOCM 590 in St. John’s has flipped the music portion of it’s programming from country to gold AC. The music is pre-1986 Their sister stations in Grand Falls and Gander have also flipped as they are 100% simulcasts.

For those wondering about the V call letters, Newfoundland was an independent country until 1949, when it voted to join confederation. All but one radio station what was on the air at that time were allowed to keep the original call letters. Others include VOAR and VOWR. The one that changed was the CBC affiliate in St. John’s.
