Partial List Of "Esso Reporter" Stations Circa 1940-1941

On the Classic TV Board, there was a discussion about "Your Esso Reporter", and I mentioned that these local newscasts, sponsored by Esso gasoline, were on the air as far back as the "Golden Age Of Radio". In my post, I had mentioned that another of my hobbies is collecting road maps, and that I had three Esso road maps from the 1940's that listed radio stations in/near the area covered by these maps. Stations that had "Your Esso Reporter" were indicated by asterik.

Since this is the place to post for such information, I have posted a partial list of radio stations that carried "Esso Reporter" newscasts in 1940 or 1941 (depending on the date of the map I have), "(With) the latest United Press headlines". Frequencies and network affiliations are also indicated.

Source: Esso road map of New York, 1940 edition:

Buffalo, NY: WBEN-900 (NBC Red)
New York, NY: WJZ-760 (NBC Blue)
Rochester, NY: WHAM-1150 (NBC Blue)
Schnectady/Albany, NY: WGY-790 (NBC Red)
Syracuse, NY: WSYR-570 (NBC Blue)
(note: Except for WSYR, the frequencies of these stations changed on March 29, 1941)

Source: Esso road map of Pennsylvania, 1941 edition:

Baltimore, MD: WBAL-1090 (NBC Blue and Mutual)
Philadelphia, PA: KYW-1060 (NBC Red)
Pittsburgh, PA: KDKA-1020 (NBC Blue)
(WJZ, WHAM and WGY were also in the radio station listings on this map)

Source: Esso road map of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, 1941 edition:

Charleston, WV: WCHS-580 (CBS)
Charlotte, NC: WBT-1110 (CBS)
Norfolk, VA: WTAR-790 (NBC Red and NBC Blue)
Raleigh, NC: WPTF-680 (NBC Red and NBC Blue)
Richmond, VA: WRVA-1140 (CBS and Mutual)
Roanoke, VA: WDBJ-960 (CBS)
Washington, DC: WRC-980 (NBC Red)
Wilmington, DE: WDEL-1150 (NBC Red)
(KYW and KDKA were also in the radio station listings on this map)

It should be mentioned that on the radio station listings on both of the 1941 maps, it was noted that "Dial Positions Effective March 29, 1941", suggesting that these maps may have been printed/distributed prior to the date of the massive changes in frequencies mandated by the NARBA treaty.

I wish I could find out which stations here in New England (and the rest of the Esso territory) had "Esso Reporters". I suspect that there may have been "Esso Reporters" on such stations like WBZ in Boston, the old WJAR in Providence, and WTIC in Hartford.
