Partnership between ABC and TVLAND?

Is there some kind of new partnership between ABC and TVLAND?

The reason I ask is because several times over the summer TVLAND aired a Robin Williams tribute from ABC News. Then over the past few days TVLAND has been airing "Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014".

Kind of strange if there is some kind of new partnership considering TVLAND is owned by Viacom, a corporate cousin of CBS. Plus ABC is owned by DISNEY a rival of TVLAND's sister network Nickelodeon.

ABC/Disney doesn't own any networks that directly compete with TVLand though. They are also licensing / producing special editions of their newsmagazines for various Discovery networks.

I've wondered the same thing. Right now on New Year's Eve at 10 p.m., they're replaying Robin Roberts' primetime special called "The Year: 2014." I'm surprised ABC News replays these shows on TV Land rather than a sibling network like ABC Family or Fusion even though these shows may not necessarily target millennials.

I also noticed that when TV Land debuted Candid Camera, they promoted it pretty heavy on Good Morning America earlier this year. Either an exec of TV Land has a really good relationship with an exec at ABC or there's some type of licensing/marketing partnership between the two networks or maybe it's part of something bigger between Disney and Viacom (Gabrielle Union also appeared on "GMA" to promote BET's Being Mary Jane, Wayne Brady announced the honorees for the 2015 BET Honors on "The View," "Scandal"'s off-network rights are owned by BET and "GMA" covered the VMAs very extensively this year).

Maybe it's nothing? Disney is also pretty cordial with Turner and Discovery.

Would a simple enough explanation be that ABC/Disney, somewhat lacking its own outlets (compared to NBC/Comcast for example) would just decide to have a kind of open licensing policy, and deal with all interested parties? I'd also note that Viacom is now divorced of CBS, leaving them as a free agent as well.
