PARTY 105.3 IS BACK!!!

You've read this RIGHT! :)

Driving through Connecticut today, they were playing current dance music such as Madonna's "Hung Up" and Bob Sinclar's "Love Generation". They brought back the Party 105.3 sweepers saying "We're BACK!"

They still have that hour sponsorship thing going and there are no on air personalities (and I think there won't be any..am not sure) but the music is back!

It's rare that a radio station would "admit" to making a mistake and without a doubt, Party Hits Channel 105 WAS A BIG MISTAKE!

Thank you!

Great news, indeed, for us fans of dance music!

I've been listening to WLIR for a few hours now, and wish I could say the same thing and have as much confidence that they'll be sticking around (still all old sweepers). I love their mix of music, and whoever programs it deserves a lot of credit for putting together a playlist that can't be found on any other cookie-cutter station. Maybe I'm grasping for straws, but they have been playing some new music that wasn't out three months ago...so at least it means there was some thought put into it and not just looping some old WLIR tapes.....right? RIGHT??? :)

Sorry, shouldn't get too excited, I know...

Party is playing "Do They Know It's Christmas?" at the moment -- what a nice early present...hopefully!!!

I just reviewed my earlier posts to find my take on the FM "failure-casting" was dated from September 13th.

I find it unbelievable after reading the TMO press release how fast they are willing to un-flip their formats!

So now I wonder, did they sell the vans? Are they doing any remotes? Of course we enthusiasts track the doings of radio stations, but are the listeners aware?

I looked at R&R for the ratings, and the 98.5 frequency is the only one that rates! This begs the question, "If a Party105 resurrects itself in the forest (Pine Barrens), and no one is listening, is it even there in the first place?"

Sorry if I sound mean, but I loved the TMO frequencies once. Fool me once...

Party's music sounds great...a hot mix of current dance tracks and hip hop/r&b...wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of a mixture of recent-old dance tracks (the stuff we were hearing in the clubs for like the past 5-6 yrs up to now) mixed in with it...

Wuestion is will they try to bring an airstaff on...this is a small market, so one could probably be done fairly cheap...CHR (even when dance oriented) is one of those formats that personalities sell the station and drive the ratings. Even though I like what I'm hearing from WBEA/101.7, still too much of their airstaff sounds like they belong on some college stations to get themselves up to speed...Party, with the right airstaff (young go-getters, willing to work cheap), could be out and about and make themselves a force...all it takes is some people with a vision and willing to make the effort...

BTW...

Anyone got a clue who's running things at Party, for those of us looking to try and see if they want cheap, hard-working air talent, where would one want to seend the aircheck (who's PDing this ship)???

Andre Ferro is back @ TMO, so that's probably a good person to start with (along with John Carraciolo, but don't trust my spelling of his name)

Good idea...now the question is, does someone know how to get in touch with Andre?

Honestly, call the station. Andre, John C etc. all all very human. They will take your call or someone will direct you properly. The only way to sell yourself is to call them.

Im fairly new to this board, in college right now for radio broadcasting- doing the radio station thing and I follow the Long Island radio scene. I might not know as much as most of you but I made an observaation about WBEA/101.7. Now called "The Beat"- Sounds great! New imaging, good mix plus I noticed Nicki (former party 105 jock) has joined the staff on the air and a lot of former party clients are now advertising on the Beat?! Maybe Party too deep in hole.......they lost me

You know what....I might be on the older end, but HECK! I'll do a part time gig there!

Heck, I've complained about radio long enough. Maybe it's time for me to do something :)

I would watch out.... Remember not all that long ago management decides to fire all the air staff, on a whim, to try a new type of format...And look how it has bombed for TMO. Now they are crawling back to some of the former employees ..."Please come back".... Anyone who would even think of working for those guys, must be desperate, or have a screw loose. This company will stab you in the back, whenever given the chance...just look at their track record.
Bad Management = Bad Radio. Watch out..........

I would advise against betting the farm on TMO...however, for those who can do ti with another p/t or f/t job, and are not relying solely on the radio gig, it might be worth the risk for some short-term gain in experience and connections...

I totally agree with that. For a college student wanting to enter the industry or for someone who has another part time or full time job, this is actually a good stepping stone. Heck, I wanna give it a try!

Andre's email address is on wlir.fm (not wlir.com, that still goes to the fmchannelcast thing that apparently nobody is in a hurry to take down...)
