Party 105 flips to CHR

Its playing their first dance song now "Everything is Going to be Alright" drawing a blank on the artist right now, but its the first & only dance song they have played so far (about 11 or 12 songs). Went from kanye West to MJ's "Beat it" earlier. Song before "Everything is Going to be Alright" was some slow HotAcish type song (not sure the name) song now drawing a blank on the name also slow song "Wake me Up When September ends". Seem to be mostly with adult oriented CHR songs with a few more rhythmic tracks mixed in

Yes, not exactly an on air jock, but did some fill in work, & was in studio at other times for a bit, mostly involved in various club apperances. She may have done more as well not really sure (I listened to the station sometimes, signal was hard to get here in SE Nassau, usually can get it decently doing some antenna fiddling, but only in certain sections of my house)

Re: What type of CHR?

This is sad. Now we lost three Dance outlets this year, the other two being WPYM and WQSX(Even if they were adult-leaning).

1 outta 2:

-me too..i am singin it in my head (off key of course : )
-and for the [12"]record..that isn't -x-actly, 'dance' it is
a dance-song..but, no where near what they were..this is sad..
no chance of hearing any thing from....atb,sash..etc - although,
we have to lQQK forward hearing "better off alone" !! again : )
yipee~~(PS: and, i like the song - and i am cheeezed off !!)

also slow song
> "Wake me Up When September ends".

that one is Green Day. weird..sidenote, GreenDay, seemed to
'bite' on the chart-friendly-cliche-slow song.. I Wonder....???
if Green Day heard that song (back in '94) would they believe it would
be them; same with NO Doubt in '93-95--hearing "hollaback" -- that
will be your sound a decade from now...

This reinforces why I have a passion for dance - it is definately
not some thing that gets 'old'/overplayed !! party105 is proof of this..

Wow what a novel idea. With their weak signal people are going to really be flocking to hear this stuff. wink

FM radio is dying. And most of these station owners like TMO, Infinity, and Clear Channel are putting the final nails in the coffin. I don't see who would listen to this new format.
I'm in Nassau county and can't recieve this trainwreck, but maybe that's a good thing? :)

People change, artists change. They're at a different point in thier life now, and this sometimes venturing out into different styles.
Listen to the music of Genesis from the 1970s - it's this very intelligent/quality Progressive Rock sound. Now compare that with the more fun and Poppy sound of Genesis in the mid 80s and early 90s...or with Phil Collins Soft Rock solo hits in the 1980s.

I probably won't even try to hear what garbage is on 105.3 next time the tropo hits. I used to listen to Party 105.3 every time the tropo brought it in here in New Jersey, since they were the best dance station in the area. Now, there's no point for me to listen to WDRE 105.3 since that format is available on so many local stations. I wish they would keep the same music as the old Party 105, but implement the new channel-casting format, because a commercial free terrestrial dance station would rock!<P ID="signature">______________
