Party 87.7 is playing...

[size=80pt]NOTHING!!!

No joke, I tune in to 87.7 and heard dead air and a bleed of that friggin 87.9 pirate.  Another T1 issue perhaps?

It went back on about an hour and a half later and throughout the day I get silent inerference. Since I live around Long Branch, could it be that I'm picking up interference from WPVI?

WPVI doesn't interfere anymore since June 12. I'm able to get WNYZ just 30 miles northeast of Philly in the car, but with a lot of static.

You know, this is one of those rare cases where I wish something like this WASN'T posted. :-\

You have all of the "haters" out there that would love nothing more than to continually bash on the music and when you give them "ammo" like this (to which I say that in this case it WAS a fiber issue and not a financial one) then they just run with their ignorant thoughts and bash away. And you know there are a couple of people that are anti-dance and would love nothing more than to "poke out an eye" to show failure. Don't give them that.

Just an opinion.

I think the people that ran the Dance station lost their rights to lease the station due to failure of payment.

Looked into leasing it but it would be far too much for me.... --- I believe that's a non-comm station and as such one would be very limited in bringing in ad revenue. . underwriting instead.

If you're talking about Mega Media and Pulse 87, then you're right, they lost the lease due to failure of payment, because the company went bankrupt. As was said many times before, they did not go bankrupt because of the dance format, but rather because of mismanagement and over 4 million in debt from before Pulse 87's launch.

87.7 is not a non-commercial station. It is in fact not even an FM station, but the audio of the analog channel 6 is on 87.7 megahertz.

To the people who hate the new Party: You guys should be happy you got Party or any CHR/rap/dance station on 87.7. Here in LA we got some stupid spanish religious talk station NO ONE even listens to... I was pissed when the owner of KSFV-LP rejected Pulse to take over the Spanish religious format!

It's the other way around. Mega Media signed a letter of intent to lease KSFV-LP, but they were running out of money and could not get into more debt. Plus, Mega Media was having trouble paying the owner of WNYZ since April, and word must have spread to the owner of KSFV about Mega's financial issues.

At least the Spanish religious format could pay the bills...

We have the same spanish religious station here in DC on channel 6 87.7. Which oddly enough, I can watch/listen to on my TV. At least our station was 'sopposed' to become another pulse but sadly didn't happen.

We have 3 Spanish Religious Stations in Connecticut and numerous pirates with the same format.

Doing it legally Radio Aviamiento FM and its translators in Hartford.
Doing it legally Radio Cantico Nuevo 990 AM. (Mostly a simulcast of WNSW 1430) in Central Connecticut.
Doing it legally in the Naugatuck Valley Radio Amor 690AM. (Daytime only. Weird I heard Joyce Mayer en Ingles on the station on Wednesday).

perhaps some savvy re mixers can drop beats behind some of the sermons on these stations, making religious converts out of the dance crowd and turning the religion crowd onto 'trance'(which is always helpful when you're rolling on the floor with snakes in your hands)..and then everybody's happy!

The first sentence...I agree. :). And I still hold out for "the big picture".

And in the case of the Pulse situation in L.A., it was DOA. The talk was there to hype up Pulse but nothing ever came out of it. It wasn't the owner's fault in L.A. Pulse had no money so there was NO WAY they could ever do the format there or in other markets that were "planned" (Chicago, D.C.)

BTW am I the only one that noticed they were playing Christmas music? I was listening to their live stream on Christmas Eve and it was ALL christmas with DJs saying happy holidays.

I was tuning in. :)

For that day, it's a "bye" where any station (no matter what format), could go "off format" for holiday music. :) I was tuning in and it was cool :) Certainly better than hearing Burl Ives on Lite-FM (not saying I was actually DOING that, at 2:35PM, in my car, driving to Long Island) :p

They were playing some high bpm christmas style dance music on christmas day as well.
