PARTY 87 DONE!

No listeners. Shortest run ever for a New York radio station. It's too bad that it'll be taken by all the haters as another strike against dance music as a viable format.

Ooops....Feb. 1. Sorry.

Where did you hear this from? (And aren't Winter books generally given the lowest value?)

There is no "Winter" book. With the PPM, we have 13 28-day books a year.

What will the Pulse Die Hards complain about now. Pulse Flatlined and the Party Fowls(LPTV) shut the party down. Something was better than nothing. Now start ranting and raving and posting youtube videos how NY has NO dance over the air.

Board editor, can you delete this post please?

I think you are in denial...

I thought this was a BOGUS post! Now that I know that this is true, I'm seething in anger here!

I don't get it... If you all need to hear dance music that badly, time to plug in your iPod or get Sirius. It ain't gonna work in NYC on a commercial frequency. Don't care how many are in clubs or are a vocal minority, it's just not a mass appeal format. Even if 150,000 attend clubs every weekend to hear dance music, that's not enough to come close to sustaining a commercial property in NYC. Never mind a half-assed TV on the Radio station. This would be the same as a radio station sending pictures via fax on a subcarrier and going silent to support that. Not it's intended use.

Maybe a non-comm can pick up the dance format, it would certainly be better than the death metal on WSOU right now and would get them more listeners.

Okay, then why don't you dedicated a few hours of dance programming on 91.9?

If I still worked there, I would... Laziness on my part for not changing my user ID...

Hmmm...looks like the final full month for PARTY on 87.7 was about 146,000 cume. (see All Access). Pitiful!

Pulse, on the same frequency, had 6 times the cume. You can't say that dance is a failure because of Party's low cume. They didn't have much time to attract their own audience on 87.7.

Whatever the current format is will be lucky to have even 10% of Party's cume. Party started with Pulse's million listeners. Indie Darkroom is starting with zero listeners. The union of the set of people who like Party's format and the people who like indie rock or music from 1920 is pretty close to 0. Dance music is played in clubs all over the region with large audiences. Those indie bands play in basements with audiences of 10 people if they're lucky. From what I've seen, 87.7 is repeating the same loop over and over since the middle of February.
