Really a shame. The HD2 signal is apparently still alive, for now at least.
I'm a little torn by this. I prefer Party to Evolution, but CC has it's stuff together and Dance in South Florida has the most to gain with them at the helm. Musically, Party's playlist was seldom updated, but the gold library which played a lot of former WPYM/WPYO music made up for this. When Party went through what I term new music binges, you heard a lot of tracks that wouldn't be spinning at other Dance outlets. Phil Michaels-Trueba still had a hand in it, far as I know, and he did a GREAT job with a real budget when he operated Party/Orlando. Now THOSE were the days, am I right?
But you can't deny the energy of Evolution and the MUCH stronger marketing power of CC. They really HAVE promoted Evolution as an internet stream. There's always an advertisement for one of the evolution channels on the main page of the IHeart App. And who would have thought that they would launch terrestrial dance channels in two top 10 markets? As far as large media conglomerates go, CC really has been the dance friendliest, so I'm ok with Cox handing the keys over to them. Unfortunately, this means whatever hope there was of a Dance HD2 at WPYO/Orlando is just about shot.
Glad I recorded so much Party on the TuneIn app!
