Party 93.3 FM New Morning Show

Big Boy's Neighborhood... It's syndicated by ABC, based at Power 106 in Los Angeles.

Not cutting back, just looking for viable ratings for the party format.

Probably both cutting back and boosting ratings. Appears Univision will try to flog some more life out of the Party format before going in a different direction...maybe La Kalle?

That will cut some of KAMA's ratings and profits away.

Maybe the return of Que Buena (under a different name maybe).

I can also start seeing a small chance of a Tejano station popping up. The little AM station has had a lot of work put into and I think letting it go on an FM station is worth the try. The station has a nice small amount of faithful listeners and it is not a bad idea to try to test it in FM to see what it does. It is a different Tejano station than the old KQQK and Univision has tried almost everything else. Other than Que Buena, this is the only other thing that we haven't seen in Houston's spanish language media (Yes, we even saw FM Spanish Talk for a while)

The other thing I see Univision doing is the same thing they did in San Antonio. Maybe going after the market leader is not such a bad idea. This will open the window for a possible nuber one spot for KLTN. R&B or soft Rock, or even changing Party to appeal to African Americans, anything is possible. But at the end, I think I will put my money on Que Buena.

Regarding Univision Radio's active rock station in San Antonio... you assume active rock doesn't appeal to Hispanics. San Antonio, El Paso, Corpus Christi and the Valley all have long-running active rock stations.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Univision would be the one to bring rock back to Houston.

so what happens to the mexicans? wow what a change seems like party's demo has shifted and now are targeting no so much the hispanic young demos as much as the afro-american young demos why the change?

kalle is just a name. The Kalles in NY and Miami are mostly tropical. Dallas, fresno, San Francisco are more pop / CHR. In other words, KGSX and KAMA are Kalle's with different names. Remember, CHR in Spanish 4 years ago was mostly reggaetón, now it is Camila and Allison and such.

Big Boy's show in LA appeals to Hispanics as well as Blacks. 23% of the audience is Black, and 63% is Hispanic.

Also, Big Boy seems to be doing well in San Antonio. Not sure what the exact break down is between The Beat(Univision) and Power(Cox) morning shows but it must of been enough for Univision to make the move on Party 93.3.

I didn't assume. I assumed that they will try to bring the top station down. Seriuously, you think KLTO can keep a good fight with KISS? Give me a break, CLEARLY Univision is trying to get KISS knocked off the top spot, not appeal to Hispanic listeners. It's not about who they are targeting, but more about what they are trying to do.

I am not sure I get or understand your point, but here is what I make of the situation. You seem to be saying that there is, somewhere in the universe, a jock in a small market who is doing well but has not been hired in a bigger market. Right?

First, for you to say that a talent could beat someone who is winning, it is essential you present some facts about yourself that show your statement and your judgement have cred and that your criteria is more than just a friend helping a friend. Things such as the number of #1 major market morning shows you have created and produced, for example, including dates and stations.

Second, for anyone to discover a raw talent in a smaller market it's necessary to reveal who you are talking about. Is the talent available to aircheck online? If he beat Piolin and Brindis, was he, perchance, on the superior signal? What is the 4 book average? How many other stations are there in the market?. Name of talent and calls, or this is just posturing and supposition.

Third, for a talent to make it in a new market, there has to be an indication that the talent is transportable. Wally Phillips did not go to New York because Wally would not have worked there.
