Passing of Ray Marks

How ironic that when the station Marks worked for posts an article reporting his death, while quoting a fellow broadcaster extolling Ray's professionalism as a newsman, the article announcing his passing omits such basic info as HIS AGE, who he leaves behind, etc. We're talking basic stuff here. Typical modern radio info: just thrown together, half-baked.

Such a pathetic sign of the times.

The Buffalo Broadcasters Association posted an obituary and tribute to Ray.

He was a gem of a man, a dedicated broadcaster, environmentalist, mentor to many and friend to all. It's worth noting that obituaries sometimes omit details at the family's preference. Obituaries posted by the BBA and Buffalo News did not mention of Ray's age, but offered references to his survivors and family. Ray will remain, to his family, colleagues and friends, timeless.

I tend not to give the benefit of the doubt to newstalk radio stations any longer. I'd be more inclined to believe that the omission was due to the usual shoddy website content efforts typical of radio. they say digital this, digital that, go-to-our-website...blah blah blah ---but most newstalk sites are just token efforts, window dressing if you will, to "seem" like a multi-platform entity. In reality, the Buffalo News, which 'BEN management loves to chastise, is far more a "destination" site for news than WBEN will ever be.
