Pastrick Gone at 'HTT!

Why did I have an overwhelming urge to spit at my monitor when I read Jim Cummings post????

If he ever was in the business, I hope he's gone now.

Mr. Cunnings is obviously bitter. He'd probably throw his own kids under the bus and party at their funeral.

Sorry....Can't hold my tongue on this one! Mr. Cummings, Jim and I worked together at HTT and he was one of the "good guys".

Is the Jim Cummings you praise(above) and the "Jim Cummings" who posted here actually the same person? ID'ing yourself on the internet is basically an honor system.

Whoever the poster "Jim Cummings" is: yes, he is bitter and just another case of what someone on another board(describing a different troll) referred to as "misplaced anger."

I've always considered Jim Pastrick the consummate radio pro.

Ooops. As they say nowadays, "my bad." Gotta let the caffeine kick before start I reading messages in the morning :)

The guy must be an out-of-towner. For anyone who grew up with Buffalo radio in the era before the big stations were owned by the strip-miners, "smart-ass" is a compliment. It didn't seem to hold back Danny and Joey.

I've been listening to "The Pastman" since we were in our 20s.
I've never thought of his style as "smart-ass".
Smart, yes. Sarcastic, maybe. Smooth, certainly. Consistant, absolutely.

He's one of the most respected on-air and production people in the market.

Mr. Cummings I don't know who you are........Please go away!

Word just reached me here behind the Cheddar Curtain. I hate to see another good guy's name in the same sentence with the word "exits." These days, nothing surprises me anymore. I'll add my praise to the other comments above. We worked together back in the day at WYSL/WPhD. I wish him all the best. Hey Jim, don't let the bastards get you down!

I'm thinking that "Jim Cummings" is probably some guy that maybe Jim Pastrick passed on for a staff opening when he was a Program Director. Funny how some people hold a grudge.

I see this guy's email address in his profile is [email protected]. Another bogus name since Vern Gosdin is an old country recording artist.

He's entitled to his opinion, but obviously he's way off base when it comes to passing judgement on Jim Pastrick who's earned the respect of his co-workers and peers, many who have posted on this board.

I join with the others - Cummings go away!

Jim, one of the truly great radio guys that had passion left. It is sad, but not expected, and there are more to come. Jim you have a gift in yur voice and with production. That is your next natural step. Own your own prodo company. There is plenty of opportunites to call your own shots! Do it , and do it nationally!

Well, I was going to hold off but this is too much. I won't openly kick someone when they're down but Jim.....Mr.Pastrick.....karma comes a callin' sometimes huh? :)

Sure does. Too bad you didn't "hold off" on that post - karma's now gonna pay you a call. Let us know how it goes.

Evil Jim

C'mon now, Rob. At least "jandersonn" called him "Mr. Pastrick". And he didn't include anything like "you rat-bastard". He's probably a board-op that Pastrick fired back in his 'GR days because the guy was surfing for porn on the Internet during his shift.

Do you mean the board op who got fired for breaking in to Pastrick's office to surf for porn on his computer? It was fun to have a small part helping catch that guy!

Pastrick has always been one of the consummate pro's of the industry and a pleasure to work with. One of the great ones in an industry that is short on character and professionalism.

Good luck Jim.

The radio business has been picked through so thoroughly that it looks like a bare bones carcass of what it once was. Then the news of nearly 80 thousand employees being terminated in one day in the banking and pharmaceutical industries. How the people who are still employed manage to cope with the layoffs? Best wishes to Jim Pastrick, who with Larry Norton many years ago, helped raise funds for a young relative who needed a kidney transplant. You want to talk about karma? It may take a while with this economy, but the guy will be back.

TVJunkie12 or Jim, I don't know about the rest of the board, but I'd love to hear the story.

If you spend enough time in this biz, sooner or later you're gonna get fired....through no fault of your own. And when you do, you can bet on some loser popping his head up out of a sewer, complaining that you weren't courteous enough to him one day in the elevator back in 1977, and how glad he is "you've finally got your comeuppance."

Of course Jim Pastrick is a seasoned pro and knows how to take these self-serving, mean-spirited jabs from The Dope Dominion. Brush 'em off like the human dandruff they are.

"He who has no enemies, has no character."

Cheerio, Jim - this snowstorm is dedicated to YEW!! :D :D

I never objected to the kind and talented people staying in the biz and prospering. What bothered me was when the untalented, mean, out and out rats who seemed to do well! ;D

I don't know Jim but from his writing here I can tell he doesn't belong in that category!

Quoting the story from FMQB off my RSS reader tonight:

"Jim Patrick (sic) exits the midday post at AC WHTT/Buffalo. As a result, PD Joe Siragusa will stretch his afternoon shift from noon to 7 p.m., while morning guy Bill Lacy will stay on the air until noon."

For 13 hours of their broadcast day, HTT will have 2 jocks? And then the air sucking drivel of John Tesh at night?

I know Joe was VT'ing alot of his PM shift. Is Lacy going to have to do the same?

Jim, look, I'm truly sorry you're out of a job but I'm honestly looking at this and thinking some kind of blessing has been bestowed upon you because I gotta think poor Bill and Joe are not happy campers right now, even with their pay check.

Best always,
- Peter

I was going to hold off too, but for a different reason.

In my estimation, Jim Pastrick was probably...scratch that...was WITHOUT A DOUBT the best production guy in Western New York. A true pro, he lives for radio, and more importantly has FUN doing it.

His sarcastic style always reminded me of Eddie Haskell of Leave it to Beaver fame. You were always expecting it, but surprised in the manner he did it.

He's too good not to end up back on his feet. Not sure Entercom has the money (or smarts) to hire him, but I'd consider it if I were in their shoes.

While my memory is foggy (or maybe old age is kicking in), I beleive I first met Jim at 'KB back in 1972 during a high school career week. One of his tasks was putting together the Buffalo Bills weekly highlight show. Tape and razor blade...an analog guy in a digital world (to paraphrase Jim).

Now, here's the kicker....

These comments come from a person that Jim let go over 20 years ago. While I had fun in radio for a brief time, my skills weren't as sharp as he liked. His parting words to me were something to the effect of 'you're not that good...why don't you just become a fan'.

Well, I became that fan and got out of radio. While I still have Walter Mitty dreams of going back to radio, I look at what has become of the industry and am thankful that I moved onto a better career.

No, I'm not painting houses!

I wish Jim nothing but the best. No grudges. Just a lot of respect. Get back on the air and give those woofers a workout!
