"Pat FM" is born

KHPT-HD2 is now "Pat FM, The best of the 90s and more" Songs i've heard in my short time listening include:

Red Hot Chili Peppers-Californication
311-All Mixed Up
Soundgarden-Black Hole Sun
David Bowie-Young Americans
Pearl Jam-Better Man
Gorillaz-Clint Eastwood

Since posting:

Nine Inch Nails-Head Like a Hole
Lenny Kravitz-Are You Gonna Go My Way

How similar does it sound to the "90's and More" stunt KROI had in September 2004 (just after the flip from Classical) ?

Perhaps a future format on the main 106.9 signal?

As I posted earlier, keep an ear out for HD2 on 92.9 and 97.1, now that Cox has the signals up on 106.9 and 107.5.

92.9 and 97.1 doesn't show to have HD licensing from ibiquity, but 106.9 and 107.5 both do.

92.9-HD2 is up...running "Texas Country" I didn't like anything I heard. No HD on 97.1

More on KHPT-HD2:

Barenaked Ladies-One Week
Better Than Ezra-Good
Red Hot Chili Peppers-Suck My Kiss
Natalie Merchant-Hey Jealousy
P.O.D.-Youth of The Nation
Wall of Voodoo-Mexican Radio
Blink 182-Man Overboard
Mighty Mighty Bosstones-The Impression That I Get
Weezer-Hashpipe
Gin Blossoms-Hey Jealousy

I wonder if "Abdul FM" or "Mohammed FM" could be far behind??? ;D

Which brings up an interesting question: Will some stations eventually lease their HD2/3 streams to outside programmers, as has been done with FM SCA in the past? Many "ethnic" formats first got on the air that way; although with the glut of basket case AM's searching for a niche these days, there might not be any need for such programming on HD+ channels...yet.

That reminds me...I need to do a SCA scan sometime and see what is left in the market. Been a couple of years since I last checked.

Wonder if Dance will ever show up on HD-2-3? Hopefully on the Senior road tower.

Very doubtful. Sorry to burst your bubble. We all know how obsessed you are with Dance.

Now hold on there, I have seen the increase of Dance music on more local clubs. We might have to wait and see because there is a probable chance for Dance music to grow. Now, I am no expert, but by the looks of it, Dance music has a chance here in Houston. Who knows, maybe even Cumulus might want to look into this format on KIOL 103.7 since the Rock format didn't work and their classic Rock format doesn't look like it is going anywhere. But then again, Cumulus will probably just ruin the hopes of Dance music! hahaha.

Funny I even hear more dance on KRBE now over the weekends, Clear channel is launching a lot of dance on HD-2. They sound good. I'm also interested in the AAA formats and texas music formats. I know dance is pretty big in Victoria.

HD2 won't be up on KTHT until sometime after the first of the year. Has anybody had the opportunity to listen to the HD2 on KLDE yet? I'd like to hear some feedback. I don't have an HD2-capable radio, 'ya know.

Blart, jog your memory back about 10 years. Imagine, if you will, a station called Oldies 94.5 KLDE. It's just a little different here and there than the KLDE of yesteryear, but still many of the hits that KLDE used to play before Oldies became a sinful word in radio.

Same as we all know how obsessed you are with Rock. There isn't anything wrong with Dance music. Not my cup of tea, but still a format deserving of at least an HD-2 spot. I'd venture to say, we haven't seen the last attempt at a dance format on analog, here in Houston. Someone is bound to try it again. However, that has to be a joke about it being KIOL. The only way to save the "mighty" 103.7 is to turn the transmitter off, close the studio, turn the lights off and put up a big for sale sign out at Devers. Wonder if New Wavo would want it back? I guess for the right asking price anything is possible. As already stated, several stations around the country (some owned by CC) have placed Dance formats on HD-2 and 3 feeds, and I'm sure there will be several more to come.

Yet somehow, I completely agree with everything you just said.

Anyone have any ideas on what the HD2 of KTHT is going to be?

Bluegrass?? LMAO Each Cox station seems to have an HD2 that compliments the main station. I can't think of anything country related that's not covered here.

Haha, yeah. It's definitely not going to happen, but I would like to see the old Hot 97.1 as the HD2. Definitely not going to get my hopes up.

I'm so glad I have Satellite Radio now. Regular radio is overwhelmed with commercials, commercials and more commercials.

As far as the rim shot stations.. Devers, Winnie, etc ... what a joke. They need to go away. 103.7 belongs back in Lake Charles and 97.5 belongs in Beaumont where they were meant to be.

I have not had the opportunity to hear these rimshots spoken of here, but did have an opp to hear 103.7 back as far as the KGRA days as our local station here was off the air. I cannot get used to referring to them as "B-103.3" as I think is a part of their ID now. They will probably always be known as "B 104"!!! The last time I was in Houston area in '04 I could not even pick up 97.1 from an area south of the 225 LaPorte frwy, but due to a trop-like situation pulled in San Antonio, Port Arthur(KKMY) and Victoria (I think).
