I got Spam's text message about Pat's death while I was telling a story about HFS on Friday night while I was hanging out with some friends. I met Pat while he and I did Sunday afternoons at 99.1 and learned so much from him while I was in the studio with him from our many conversations about anything and everything. Pat was such a fun person to be around and it pains me that I am speaking about him in the past tense. I'll always remember him for his amazing wit and and quick thinking on the air but mostly as an awesome person and friend.
My heart goes out to his family and their loss. R.I.P. brother.
I was thankful I got to know Pat. And at the viewing, I saw just why. He had a gift, not just in radio, but in life. He understood the meaning of the word "friend".
Taking a lesson from his loss: Friends whom I have known and the new friends I made (in an odd twist..) on Monday night, I want you to know that I am grateful for all of you.
Sincere condolences. Pat was a very skilled, talented, and HARD worker. Best night show we ever had at WLAN in my book, and I was there as OM for almost 8 years. More than that, he was a great PERSON. I wish I would have kept in touch, but perhaps that would have made me even sadder.
