theres a fiesta happening at the boardwalk on friday aug 8th, 8pm. free. all ages.
come one come all...
yes there will be bands playing....
yes they will be selling booze....

Grats to Pat. I've enjoyed listening to him all that time, and have a great respect for his programming skills and airstaff.

I remember when Dogface first came aboard, I thought he was awful and wondered what Pat was thinking. After listening to him for awhile, he has become one of my favorite local talents. Guess that's why Pat is a PD and I am not! :)

Hate to break it to you, but Pat hasn't been programming KRXQ since Jim Fox came aboard as Station Manager. I don't know if they let him keep the PD title, but his role is back to being an APD/MD. That's not to slight PM and the hard work he does... he sounds better than ever on-air.

Which is the exact job description of... anyone? That's right, "Music Director". Big difference from "programming" a station. Trust me I've done both. Thanks for playing.

That would depend on the PD. Some are more hands on than others. Some are almost completely hands off.

Seems like only yesterday I stole that creamer from <restaurant name deleted..but it's surrounded by Chickens :)> an gave it Pat in celebration of his 14th (15th?) anniversary with the station.

And the walker & tennis balls were also a fond memory when we shared that office at 5345 Madison Ave.

20 years is a real accomplishment. Especially given the past 10 years.

My favorite Pat Martin memory:

I'm rolling down the hill in my moving truck with my wife, getting ready to start our life in Sac...This phoner starts and some woman is just giving it to him on the air for not playing a song or something. She says "I'm going to complain to your Program director! What's his name?"

He retorts without missing a beat;

"Pat Martin...give him a call!"

Nice memory Paul! Pat really is a great radio personality. He can't hear for ----...but he's still easy to listen to on the radio.

Dont' be a jacka$$...Pat Martin IS a great jock...I don't live in Sac amymore, but I just loved the way he communicated with his audience and made it about the MUSIC....

Congrats, Pat...

the show was really a great time. i got there just as teslas was starting their set. totally awesome.
congrats once again patty..... heres to 20 more....

Did anyone make it out to Pat Martin's party at The Boardwalk? It was pretty crazy, they turned away over 1,000 people. What a great time! Tesla performed 6 songs and Pat even did a duet with Jeff Keith on "I Got You Babe"...it was hilarious!

Congrats to Pat on 20 years...quite a feat these days. Have always thought Pat is one of the most solid all around jocks I've ever heard. It's no surprise to me he's made it this long, and even though he didn't hire me once he was very personable and professional about it.

Shucks, I'm running behind on this one, but as PM might remember... "The Backstage Buzz airs in 2 minutes-- can you produce it or do want me to do it live??!!"

Congrats, dude. It was a realy pleasure to work with that feller, as-- once he knows you're SUPPOSED to be there on property-- he's a pretty dang cool guy. This ear cup's for you, Pat!

Love,

Chadd
