Pat McCrory needs attention

This guy was threatening to run for Congerz (how he pronounces it).
So, what happens? Breathless FB posts - will he or won't he?

Who cares. Should have run. WBT is a cesspool of lies, self-victimization and idiocy since they allowed him to ruin the morning show.

There are a bunch of talk hosts who tease their aspirations for elected office every election cycle. Some actually do run, most do not.

I'm not a fan of Pat McCrory but I don't understand people who listen to him and criticize. Turn the knob or turn it off. WBT ended for me a long time ago. About the time the music died there and Rush Limbaugh came in. Even Jefferson Pilot-WBT executive Mr Charles Chrutchfeld was known to lament "What have they done to my radio station"??? Obviously he was less than impressed. WBT is now on it's third owner since then (Lincoln Financial, Greater Media, now Entercom) and is no longer what it was.

Well, here's the issue....

Now, I know it's easy to just say turn the dial, but the issue here is that WBT is the only news in the morning on Charlotte radio.
For some reason, they have gotten rid of the 8 AM hour while people are commuting to work.
I still depend on the station to be informed, but instead I'm now bombarded by an idiot between packets of actual info I need and can't get elsewhere while driving.

Point taken and and excellent one at that. There is always WFAE which seems to be beefing up their local news in content and staffing. Maybe not to the level of WBT quite yet but without the commercials.

As a former long term mayor and governor, I understand the value of Pat McCrory as a political commentator. I just don't think he is good as radio host, and he needs Bo Thompson as a moderator. The morning news on WBT was more solid with Al Gardner. They should go back to the news block with Bo Thompson and just bring in McCrory when commentary is warranted. But they claim Pat McCrory is the fastest growing show on Charlotte radio, so apparently somebody is still listening.

For some reason I thought this show had been cancelled.

I know now what happened. I was listening to WHIP when I was in the Charlotte area but I would change to WBT if they played something I didn't like, knowing Rush would be on later. Then I remembered i had found WAIZ, which doesn't play songs I don't like.

Pat McCrory has apparently performed well in the ratings, as apparently he now has the top rated morning show and the fastest growing show in Charlotte radio, or so they say. Perhaps because most conservatives listen primarily to WBT whereas the other demographics are split between all the other stations.

Anyhow, tomorrow on WBT Pat McCrory will announce whether he will run for the US Senate in NC to succeed Richard Burr, or remain on WBT. Stay tuned to find out. About 8:35am scheduled announcement.

Urban One is now the fourth owner of WBT AM. Not a good match IMO, wonder if they will try and sell to I Heart or Beasley?

As predicted, Pat McCrory has announced on WBT this morning he is running for US Senate in NC in the seat being vacated by Richard Burr. So today was the final Pat McCrory Show on WBT. Wonder who will join Bo Thompson tomorrow?

Look at all the air time Pat McCrory got for his senate campaign for free! Wait, better yet, WBT probably paid him!

Bo Thompson said this morning he will continue to host the morning time period with guest hosts in place of Pat McCrory until permanent changes are decided. I would prefer them to return the 8:00 hour to the morning news format, and leave just one hour for the political show or give it to Vince Coakley. Or better yet add something with broader appeal rather than just strictly right wing conservative talk. I appreciated John Hancock because his show was not exclusively political and had more widespread appeal.

Someone once commented that negative emotions are very strong ones. I've never been a fan of political talk. all people ever do is complain.

I just heard Vince Coakley on WBT. You cannot tell from listening to him that he is African American.

When I was in college someone told me I should work to get rid of my Southern accent.

This is unusual for a conservative talk station that is not Christian, but I just came back from getting gas for my mower. In the time it took to drive home, a caller was praying. Bo Thompson thanked him for doing that.

On the way to get the gas, there was a and for dealing with your pain in a way that doesn't involve surgery. So I guess we know who is listening.
