Pat Sajak will stop turning the wheel after 41 years.

I'm thinking Ryan Seacrest will be the new host. I wouldn't put it past Vanna to make a retirement announcement soon too and Maggie Sajak taking over for her.

Wasn't Vanna hosting really a TRIAL run for whenever Pat retired? Vanna and Maggie could co-host until 2035 if they wanted.

Jim Thornton could also take over (I think he's done some live roadshows) and somebody else could become the announcer. John Cramer (Byron Allen shows?) Steve Kamer (Inside Edition)?

Her hosting was a “the host had surgery” thing. No medical issue, no hosting. That’s not a trial. And she was clear she didn’t want to do it again (nor was it really best suited to her anyway). They’re not going to stick her in there for…12 years? 2035? 😂😂😂😂

And no, they’re not putting an announcer in just because he did a road show.

Whereas Pat's continued employment as a consultant for three years after his hosting duties end may guarantee continued employment for his daughter, possibly as a letter turner, I think they'll look for a new, fresh, unknown for the new host. At this moment every funny TV weatherman in the nation is out buying new clothes, getting Botox injections, and coming up with amusing weather antidotes for the audition tapes (or is it disc or just files in the modern world?). Maybe they'll do a series of audition weeks to get ready for season 25's new fresh host. If nothing else medium and large market TV weather forecasts should show marked improvement for the next 18 months. I think Vanna will probably go at the time Pat goes. They have lots of chemistry which may not translate to a new and much younger host.

The days of picking a local weathercaster (or anchor or whatever) from some station are long over. Bringing in someone with meaningful name recognition (there’s almost no such thing as universal) is the template in the modern world. That doesn’t mean Seacrest.

But think through who has been added to shows in recent years—the several who rotated through Millionaire in later years…Drew Carey on Price is Right…Wayne Brady on Let’s Make a Deal…Jeopardy’s two host system….pretty much all of ABC’s prime time games. It isn’t 1986.

You might be right but I would think producer would ask her to stay on one more year through transition period so audience doesn’t have to accept too much change at once

A few years ago I was at a function with Drew Carey. What we had in common, was I worked on TPIR during the Bob days. Among other small talk, Drew and I talked about his take on the transition. The Executive Producer and upper brass really thought it would be best to acknowledge Bob for his tenure and contribution as host all the years, but make it clear to the audience that change is for the better. GIven some of the backlash, Drew wondered if he would be able to keep the gig in the first year or so. After one season, things steadied out and the audience actually grew.
I suspect Wheel would go through a similar transition period.
