Pat St. John ruined my Sunday!!

When my friends called and invited me to go to the beach I turned them down because I was intent on listening to Pat and his collectible cuts. What ended up happening is Pat winded up playing repeat collectible cuts. So I ended up missing the beach for nothing. It angers me when my loyalty to Pat is not rewarded.

I really don't think you can blame Pat, for kicking back a bit in the summertime. Is he on vacation? Were they playing an old recorded show?

It sounds like you really need to get yourself some way to record the radio when you're not around, or you needed to take a portable to the beach with you.

Passing up on one of the year's few 90-degree perfect weekend beach days, and a trip to the beach with your live and in person friends to listen to a radio show sounds like you might want to re-examine your priorities in life.

Real life social activities should almost always take precedence over computer games, TV and radio shows etc. even if they are rare "collectible cuts."

Listening to the radio is something you do while you are "living" your life. It is not something you do in place of having a life.

Why didn't you record the show and go to the beach?
Summers are too short to miss any day at the beach.

Just take Pat with you. He likes the beach, too. Just don't give him too much sun, you'll warp his cabinet.

Jeff in (always sunny and warm) Sa-ra-so-ta!

Why don't you drop Pat St. John a line on Facebook and ask him? He's a pretty cool cat, he'd probably oblige to give you an honest answer. :)

Wow! The beach and the radio were meant for each other! Many of us can remember walking the length of the beach and hearing Musicradio 77 WABC from one end to the other back in the days of Top 40 radio. And as others stated, they don't have to be mutually exclusive events. You can take a radio with you. Or simply just record the show. Or both!

Having said that, I think what LIRadiofan was most likely expressing (I think...I hope) was their disappointment on having repeats so quickly. I would definitely agree that the "Collectible Cuts" segment is one of the best things on radio these days. And, as LIRadiofan probably is aware, cuts have been repeated in the past, but normally not so soon:

Darlene Love - Johnny, Please Come Home - PLAYED ON 6/26/11
Beatles - Hey Jude - (Alternate Take) From 7/31/68 (43 years to the DAY) which is different than the last alternate take he played
Squeeze - Tempted (Alternate Take) - PLAYED ON 6/5/11
John Lennon - Watching The Wheels (Alternate Take)

Still, these are rare cuts and outtakes that you don't hear that often. I wouldn't let the 2nd playing of a song "ruin" a summer day when you've heard the other ones around them hundreds of times. ;)

Relax, bring a radio and enjoy (and record ;) ) the show!
