Pat Summerall vs. Today's "Play-By-Play"

Most of you know, Pat Summerall has passed. Want a neat comparison? Compare Pat's play-by-play to most of the current crop. When you consider this dumb, stupid yelling and screaming at the top of your lungs as "play-by-play", you can forget any comparison. There simply isn't!

What made Summerall so great was that he had that great "classic" voice and was succinct and to the point.

A lot of younger folks, especially the ones in management positions, would think that Summerall's style was boring; however, for generations, it worked.

Exactly Shawn! The purpose of play by play is to describe the action. You cannot do that if all you're doing is yelling and screaming at the top of your lungs. They call this professional??? They even feature that crap on promos as if yelling and screaming is some badge of honor. It isn't! Its plain stupid and very obvious that it is.

The last of Summerall's breed is Vin Scully. Listen to Scully, then listen to Joe Buck, or even worse, Hawk Harrelson. 'Nuff said.
