Also heard him one night last week. Dont know if this is permanent or not. Good to hear Patrick again.

radio musical chairs. Patrick does sound good, though. Good for him. Hope it works out.

Yes , Patrick Calahan is a good radio personality ... He sounded great at WODS and in Chicago

at WKQX Q101 .... and will fit in at WROR

I'm listening now. Ever notice he always says "This is Patrick Callahan" as opposed to, say, "I'm Patrick Callahan"? He didn't say anything like "Patrick Callahan filling in for Kim Collins" and I hope he is merely filling in for her. Not that I dont like Patrick--I do-- but I do really like Kim and she always sounds great and has worked nearly every airshift at WROR over the last few years. There are no bio's missing from the website.

It could be Kim is off this week for April Vacation with the kids. I agree I love Kim. I like Patrick because you can tell he just has loves the music and has a good knowledge of it.

Much as I feared, Kim's bio is now gone from the ROR website although her email addy remains. Julie D is now listed as 7pm to midnight although Patrick Callahan is there tonight and another post on the board has mentioned that WROR has been jockless during Julie's shift the last day or two. I'm assuming Patrick is joining WROR for the 10am to 3pm shift.

I'm very sorry to see Kim go if, in fact, she is gone. I would hope Greater Media at least has the heart to keep her on board for weekends (where she started) or give her an airshift elsewhere. WROR's current roster of weekenders, according to the website, include Kristen Lessard, JC Haze, and Stella Mars although I have yet to hear Stella on WROR probably because I'm not generally listening much on the weekends.

Not having any inside info, I'd say we can't draw that conclusion for sure until we hear it.

I've heard Stella on WROR Sunday evenings as recently as a few weeks ago. I haven't had the chance to listen the past couple of Sundays.

Stella was also hired last fall to do weekday afternoon drive across the boulevard on professional non-comm WUMB at U. Mass. Boston, but just this week, she's no longer on there, and though her name is still on their "announcers" list, she's apparently been dropped from their program schedule page. I wish her well in her endeavors too. There are too many DJ's losing work around here!

Stella has been around Boston radio a long time too. I'm pretty sure I remember her as a voice on the old WROR (at 98.5) and I THINK she was one of the original voices on the old Eagle 93-7 (pre-Star), wasn't she??

Yes she was, and she was also back on 93.7 as Star. I think 98.5 had become Mix by the time she was on it. Her radio career in this area also included WBUR, WBOS, and WMJX among others.

Julie is on tonight. Heard her while driving home, she sounded good. I'm watching the Sox game now so not listening to the radio. Sorry Julie. ;)

I have mixed feelings here. Sad that Kim is gone. Sometimes I like Paul Perry and other times he gets on my nerves. Way too many stupid contests and call-ins.

To me, whenever I hear Paul's show it's in dire need of a co-host. I realize he pulls other figures in the building into the studio for segments, but it's basically a high-energy, one-man morning show in afternoon drive. And I completely see what Boston_Bill is saying, there's really way too many stupid contests on that show. Bits like the daily Battle of the Sexes segment get extremely stale when they're done every single day.

Either pairing Perry with a co-host, or freshening up the contest stuff would both be great steps for GM to take. A personality-heavy show isn't a bad idea for WROR's afternoon drive slot, but it needs some work.

I heard one woman caller give Paul totally wrong information about the stimulus payments and he didnt challange it.
I think the show loses energy as the afternoon wears on. That said, its more enjoyable than Oldies 103.

Patrick is now listed on their website for Saturdays 3-7 PM, so it looks like at least he's got his own weekend shift. He's on now.

Yup, and nothing listed for Kim. :( Patrick, JC, Kristen, Stella Mars, and Paul Perry all listed with weekend shifts. They couldn't cut Paul's weekend shift to fit in Kim???

And when did they change the slogan from "Loren and Wally and the 60s, 70s, and 80s" to "Loren and Wally and the 60s, 70s, and 80s all in one place"? Sounds stupid. Next month, I understand it's changing to "Take a left at the light, a right at Dunkin Donuts, go two blocks down and you have Loren, Wally, the 60s, 70s, 80s, a fresh salad bar and stupid managerial decisions all in one place". ;D

Oh, sorry, was I too critical there? :p

We don't know whether she would've wanted it. Maybe she decided to pursue more promising things elsewhere.

Also, I'd imagine that as weekday afternoon drive host, Paul is on a fixed salary, probably the same whether he has the weekend shift or not. If so, they save a little money by having him do a weekend shift rather than having to pay a part-timer an hourly rate to do that shift.

Turns out Kim has her own voiceover/imaging business at www.kimcollins.net . Her bio there also says she teaches at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Wellesley, MA.

I just emailed her through this site to ask if she will be on any other Boston/Worcester stations in the near future. I'll let you know if I get an answer. Her phone number is also listed there if anyone wants to call her. ;D

Which is probably why Paul did double duty a few weeks back when L&W were on vacation. Ive listened to 105.7 way back when they were WVBF
